LMAO, its called a WEAK SPOT in the frame....or as others might call it... a manufacturing defect or bad engineering.

I'm not going to flame any machine or anybody, but I see it this way. Every machine has problems. The Z's frame is week, i got one last saturday, and I already cracked the frame above the shock mounts. With the amount of extra money you have to spend to get the EX's engine up to speed, it will break about even to get a better frame for the Z, or gusset it. EVery machine has week points, raptor=tranny, Z=frame, EX= engine,DS= steering, everything has its week points. I'll never get rid of my EX, but I like the Z a lot. Just my .02.

I had had my Z for over a year now with no problems. I will agree that the Z frame is weak as a wet noodle:grr: What I can't understand is why people are not gusseting the frames on them when they know it is a problem? I know it is a pain to tear them down but, what else can you do? A frame job goes for about $250 around here. JUST DO IT!

Just my .02. my 400ex had plenty of power when it was stock..and im sure a lot of other people will agree with me...the 400ex is a bullet proof quad in more ways than one...and if you spend 2k on a frame..you can get a 400ex to ahve more power for less than 1k...so your theory is wrong

I meant gusseting, not new frame sorry. The main thing I'm getting at with the frame breakage thing is, if everybody who buys a Z knows that the frame is weak, gusset it. Don't go and buy a slip-on to get a few more ponies, then complain about frame breaking, for the same amount of money, you can gusset it. If you ride hard enough to tweak the frame, you should know enough to get it fixed before having to spend money on new frames and parts.

Has anyone even considered NOT RUNNING INTO THINGS?!?! Whether it be another quad, tree, or whatever... I understand that some frames have bent from jumping, but these pictures are of the Z's being run into or ran into something. I bet if we keep our Z's off of other quads and such, this frame bending problem will go away on its own.

Yes.... i expect my 400ex 2 hit a tree 3rd gear pinned, and there wont be a scratch..... why? because its a HONDA!!!!! lol, j.k.
this is quite an amusing thread, as previously stated, almost anything will break when you run it head on into a solid object that weighs in the same ball park, or has the resistance of a brick wall ..... im stumped

I just bent my EX frame in a crash last weekend, and I cracked the shock mounts on my Z two days after I got it, before I even had a chance to gusset it. The Z should be back in order tonight or tomarrow though, I don't know about the Ex though.:(

Its surprizing what "any" quad will take if you think about, like I know people who have pretty much run straight into something and dead stopped with no damage. Some things are bad engineering and some are just flukes but the Z thing seems werid that its always the right side...

I got a stock motor besides exhaust and filter in my machine if that means anything...

i've put my frame through SO MUCH its not even funny, I got some stress marks above the front shock mounts and peg mounts but i'm not complaining. I've had it for about 2 years and have hit so many huge jumps and put it through so much and shes still ticking.

LMAO. You think those frames are bad. Atleast they are only bent in one spot. I'm just dyin to get the plastic off my Banshee...its been straighted like 4 times now. Once the rear plastic was pointing at the ground it was so bad.:o

Just for some good suzuki bashing

My friend has 22 gussets in his frame and still broke the frame at 18 different places. The second day he had it he bent the axle and he also bent like 8 tie rods. He went to a little race and he pulled out the bottum mount of his sub frame ( there is no stress on the sub frame )

This guy is not that crazy just regular jumps ( no 100 footers ) and some gravel pit ridding. I do avery thing he does with me EX and did not break anything.

The other day he took it apart and the left top pipe just fell off.
That was after some trail riding

SORRY to say it but the Z frame really sucks

Get a HONDA and hop up the motor and it's alot better then the Z.

Brandon Ballance has pounded his Z all year with no frame problems. The gussets and pc is about $250 around here. Cheap mod!

One Z, one frame, all year!:)
I am not brand loyal; I have ridden several brands and all of them had flaws.

His frame is gusseted and he has one of best suspention you can buy ( that help alot) because it is not has hard on the frame. The shocks just take the pounding
