Hey guys, i have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 right now and i really dont like the truck all that much, I really want a chevy. Only thing is, its a company car of my fathers and i cant really get rid of it, and we also just put about 800 bucks in it in wear and tear items and such, so i have to keep it for a while. I have quite a bit of things i want to do to it, such as:

15 or 20% windows
Spray in bedliner
fix my straight pipes (put muffler and cat back on, grr i hate straight pipes)
either like a 4 inch susp. lift and some 33" micky thompsons
or more like a 6 or 7 (might be too much lift) with some 35 inch swampers.

Does anyone know of any good lifter truck forums, or websites i could start pricing a lift kit with, and also maybe a tire website. I know windows are gonna run me about 150, bedliners another 400, new exhaust i have no idea, and i also will be adding some audion to my interior but i already have that stuff from my explorer, ill jsut have to make it fit.

Well i guess i only have a few questions so if you can point me to a good website for my dodge i would appreciate it much. Thanks

I'm pretty much in the same shoes as you. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger that my parents are paying for. I really need a full size Chevy. My Ranger wasn't made for towing, offroading, or all the other stuff I try with it. I started doing some stuff to my Ranger but no matter what I do to it, it's still not what i'm wanting out of it. I took all my money that I would put towards my truck and put it in my savings account. I'm waiting for my Ranger to get paid off which will be another 2 years but I have already saved 6K. So my advice is to just save your money, be patient, and get what you really want.

i like my chevys too -but the dodges are much simpler to lift and cheaper than post 88 chevys
4-wheel parts is a good place to start they have it all -tires- lift -exhaust-and they are spread all over the country
33 will fit with 2 inch lift -35 will fit with 5 inch lift

I got a 99 ram,all i did was put springs off a 1 ton diesel on it and it clears 33s easy.I was gonna buy a lift but ,why waste that much when i only want to put 33s on it.

are you kidding me? all you did was swap out springs from a 1 ton and you got your 33s under it, that sounds like a good idea! How much did that run ya if you dont mind me askin, and i know any time you lift or lower you lose you good ride quality, but does it ride really rough with the stiffer springs or is it an ok ride?

I bought the springs from a freind that works at a junk yard so i got them for almost nothing. It dont ride that bad.Ive drove trucks with lift kits that rode worst.I just put better shocks on it.

I have a 1997 dodge and we put a 3" Pro Comp lift on it we have 33x12.50x16 and they are to small we could clear 35's. The lift cost us around $600 it was easy to install (I didn't do it I just polished the rims while my husband did it ) we need to get a body lift now cause we had the poweraid throttle body spacer (highly recommend) and then we got the fipk K&N kit and it won't fit w/the throttle body spacer on it we also got the hypertech programmer the truck hauls now (@$$ and weight) Also we have the Pro Comp es9000 and the truck rides really nice.

If you are going to lift that Dodge.... I suggest you wear a back brace.

10 inch or lower doesn't count... lol

just put my new bumper on but have to apint it.. The thing is so heavy with the winch put in that it took me about 4 of us tp get it in place and a fork lift to hold it up...

12 inch suspension with a 3 inch body on mine... i don't recommend a body lift if you don't need one.. i needed one to fit the 40's.. on a dodge you can probably fit 40's with just the 12 inch suspension lift thou...

Our 1998 Dodge ram 2500 w/ Cummins Turbo Diesel fits 33's stock too. We had serious doubts about them fitting but they slipped right on and fit perfect. They don't rub or touch anything.

I perfer the real trucks with solid axles, not any of that IFS stuff. It makes it easier to lift and the ride will be alot better.

well how much should i lift for 33s then? i doubt i could fit them stock without the tires rubbing. Do you have any pictures of your truck? my birthdays monday think i might just ask for some money to do it, or the spray in liner.
