I am deciding on shocks and aarms for the front of my 88 R for mx. I have my heart said on Pep ZPS shocks. Now for the aarms i am not sure. I dunno if a long travel aarms is worth the extra money. Has anyone ever rode a long travel front end and felt the difference?
I am considerign +2+1 Laeger aarms
or Long travel walsh. THe walsh will cost about 400 bucks more. Help me out guys, are the walsh worth the extra money?
matt
Houser is the way to go. 800 for long travel a-arms. Then a set of elka long travel shocks are 1000. this is the set-up i'm gonna run this year when my @ss-Hole nieghbor pays me my money. Or for 200 more houser will get you custom axis fronts

Yeah Long travel is the way to go much nicer and smother ride. I would go with either the 19" long travel a-arms from houser or walsh.

The guy at my local shop(quad race shop not dealership) told me if i wanted a long travel front end like the walsh or the t pin i would acctually have to send my frame to walsh or laeger and have them modify my uper shock mount?
any truth to this?

I would call Laeger or Baldwin and ask them about it.
Your dealers dumb. the shock mounts on the 19in. shocks are mounted lower in the a-arms.

The Laeger's T-pin front end is very expensive but well worth it.

A Laeger`s T-Pin Front End would be sweet. If you have the money, get it.

Houser long travel a-arms and Axis shocks would also be a good setup too>

Ok guys here goes...
I decided i am going to get the houser long travel aarms. The hard part is deciding on the shocks
Axis or Elkas
I know axis are the best but they also are alot more.
The cost for the 3 shocks and the aarms are 2950ish for the axis and 2340 if i go with elkas.
Do you guys really think the axis are worth 600+ more?

If you are Racing MX and want to go to the Nationals I would get Axis. For just Local Races or something you don`t need Axis. Everybody would like to have Axis Shocks. I haven`t heard anything bad about Elka though. It`s hard. If you have the money get Axis, but if not get Elka. Have you thought about the PEP ZPS Shocks any?

Are the pep zps long travel because if you buy longtravel a-arms you have to have long travel shcoks.

I`m not sure. Most of the Top Pro`s run PEP ZPS with the Laeger T-Pin Front End that lets you use 19IN Shocks, I think. So wouldn`t they be Long Travel then?

in that pic it shows that the houser stil uses ball joints and the whole idea behind the t-pin is allowing the a-arms to ivot more, possibly breaking the old balljoint design...if youve been around motocross for awhile you know that a broken balljoint is not a fun thing to deal with...ask john natalie....later guys
