Is there really any sence in fully modding a 300ex for mx or xc when a slightly modded 400ex will pretty much destroy it? I know the 300 will be a tad better in the woods during an xc race, but as soon as your out in the open the 400 would just pull away. So should I mod or move up?

i would move up, i used to have a 300ex and had dreams of modding it, and when i started it, i realized it wasnt worth it because there would always be something better. Now i have my R that isnt the best racer out there, but it gets the job done pretty well.

in xc the 400 is better all around...in tight woods and open places...go ahead and upgrade you'll be happy you did

What about for freestyle? Fully moded 300 or 400 with new shocks?

just move up youll be glad u did it. i used to have a 300 i raced MX on and it was way overpowered and the shocks sucked even after i upgraded them. i always got beat and now that i moved up i have been a getting better finish every time.

def. move up man, you'll be really glad you did once you have a 400ex and bein able to mod it out to somethin real, with a 300ex you can maybe mod it out for a very cheaply modded 400

My brother has a 300. No matter how much $ in mods you put into it, it will not be as competitive as a 400. And the suspension travel is not race worthy even with aftermarket shocks.
