would it be a good idea to put 400ex a arms and stock 400ex shocks on my 1995 300ex?? cuz they are suppose to add about 1 inch on each side, so it would be like +2 a arms??? and will a stock 400ex axle, fit on a 300ex? and if it does is it any longer??

If you use 400ex a arms with 400 shocks you'll need to move the shockmount up or buy a bracket. You can use the 300 shocks if you don't jump but it'll sit very low. Or you can use custom shocks to retain the proper ride height. This will give you about 1 1/2" - 2" per side(about +4 total). I have pretty much the same setup with the custom shocks and it is a huge improvement over stock.

As for the axle your best bet is to use a 350x axle and carrier. I'm pretty sure the 400 axle will not fit.

Hope this helps. Good luck!:D

no tried the 400 axle it dont work. the 300 carrier is to short and all the splines sit to far out.

aight thanx, im prolly gonna get the 400ex a arms and use my factory shocks for now!! But about the 350x carrier and axle-- how much wider is it, and is it any stronger?:huh

i got Works shocks and have 400EX a-arms and i made them custom by takin them to a shop and getting the guy to weld my 300 shock mounts on the 400 a-arms so they're adjustable and they aren't 60" wide.:scary:. works pretty good though. you can see in this pic i have 2 shocks mounts on each a-arm.

^yep im with him....i did the 400 a-arms with c-dale shocks....anytime you do sumthin "homemade" like that you have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages....i will take the better shocks and stability over twitchy steering any day....i can compensate for and deal with weird steering, but i cant compensate for landings that crack my frame or deal with rolloin it cuz it was too narrow

JMO tho....

so 400ex a arms and stock shocks would work, but it would sit pretty low?? cuz i need the height, but i also need the width were i ride. i was thinking about just buying wheel spacer, but i heard they werent that great for the front, and worked pretty good in the rear?

They will bolt up but they DO NOT steer very well!!!

if the 400ex front end works for you then im happy for you but i think if you will step off your 300 and step onto a stock 400ex with stock front end the 400 feels much better...and then at the moment you will feel the geometry is off with the 400 front end on your 300..i would much rather have stock 300ex a arms with some aftermarket shocks even though it costs more

You guys are right, the geometry is way off, and i notice a real lot of bumpsteer, and weird steering, nebody wanna buy a set of 400ex a-arms, and works triple rate custom length shocks, lmao?

well right now im planning on getting a YFZ in the near furture so this isnt a big concern! but im jsut it makes a **** load of a difference!!

I put just the a-arms on, and used stock shocks with the preload cranked up. It worked decent for a trail ride. In heavy whoops it would bottom and the back would start to buck (kind of like a blaster) but I got the shocks on now with a homemade bracket. I noticed that the front end dives a lot more when braking hard with the fronts, and it wheelies A LOT easier, but I did pull my lid off, here's a pic of mine with 400 a-arms and a stock 300ex, mine's on the left if you didn't now that already:rolleyes: it added about 3 inches total to the width.

I had a 300 with 400 shocks and a-arms. Its better than stock, but the steering did get a lil funky. Like the tie rod ends hit the a-arms and stuff like that. When making the bracket just try to get the right ride hieght and you'll be fine.

i dont think being a pro would decide whos right and whos wrong...... i think personal experience will speak better than whos a "better" rider:o

I might be wrong, but i think that you would have to have a lot of experience in order to become a pro.:ermm:

how much are 400 a-arms and shocks?

the only way i can see the steering getting funky is if u use a mount and it is not made correct or not completely perfect... i have 400ex +1 a-arms and works dual rate shocks custom legnth to what i needed it handles awsome now and the steering is very precise but it could use a steering stabilizer, i had to mess with the castor and toe a little but now its fine... if it is done rite i dont think it makes it geometricly incorrect... i think my uncles raptor that has a lobo II front end is more squirly(steering wise), but he needs a stem then we will see, i recomend this to anyone who wants more from there 300

ps it made the quad 2.75 inches wider on each side
stock 400 ex arms are 1.75 inches wider

I did it and it made a world of difference! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade their 300 w/ out the expenses of buying aftermarket arms and shocks. :D

well, i think im just going to get 400ex or 250R a arms, and keep using my stock shocks for a little while, until i get my works with rezzys.

I noticed the 400ex a-arms did screw up the castor
