3 motos at nationals?

Can anyone tell my why there are always 3 moto scores on the nationals except for the pros?

When a class has more than 20 riders, it is broken down into heat or divisions. Some of the riders have to then make the main on Sun by going to the LCQ and this is the 3rd number. this is how it is suposed to work, but how it is printed out is another story.
