I'm wondering the same thing. I just got off the phone with Rocky Ridge about their Carb mod. They bore it to a 38mm, take off the choke assembly, and he said something else for $125. That seems like a good price, but I'm a little worried about taking the choke off because I have enough problems all ready with it starting in the cold winter. He said with it jetted right there shouldn't be any problems, but I want to hear from guys that have the mod done or their choke assembly off to find out how it starts in the cold...

the choke being off is not a problem / just pump the the throttle 3 or 4 times, mine starts even better with out it. the sparks mods are great

So even in cold weather there is no problem? I got my carb setup right now where the jetting works year round and the jets don't need to be changed in the cold and I like that. I just don't want to do this mod and have to mess with it all the time, or at all like now. If you have the Sparks mod, how much power did it add? Thanks...

not for sure on the power the the throttle reponse is perfect

so you dont have to jack with the jetting all the time, oh but really, is it worth the 125 dollars?

let me tell you the sparks mod is way worth it. i have rode 400exs with and w/o the mod and let me tell u the ones with the sparks mod would take off a hell of a lot faster and not bog and would have slightly better power increases. i reccomend them 110% for any type of motor/carb work

What does Sparks do in their modify? I would think the same as Rocky Ridge, but just wondering.

go with the rocky ridge mod in my opinion it was well worth every penny and i got the time slips to prove it  they do the same exact thing sparks does only its cheaper as as far as starting goes it's not a problem i live in ohio where winters are down right frige'ed and she starts with ease

Ok the starting was a big concern of mine. Last question, Ugly do you have to mess with the jetting a lot, or once you got it dialed in it pretty much works for all temps year round?
