i just ordered a rebel aluminum sproket from nacsracing.com. It cost around $30 except i got it in 33tooth, instead of my stock 38. I also changed the front from 13 to 14. What kinda of top speed gains should i notice. I am not running the stock 22" tires however, i run a set of 18" turftamers, and a 20" pair of razrs. good lookin out guys

i'd say u would gain about 2-4 more mph w/ the 18's. and i guess about 4-6 w/ the 20's.

5 teeth on the rear and one on the front is a lot. i know u have smaller tires but i think u should still gain 4 mph if u can pull the gearing.

i don't know squat about 300ex's, i don't claim to know squat about 300 ex's, but i think you went too far on the gears. You went from a final drive ratio of 3.92 down to a 2.36. That is a HUGE changein gearing. I would think with that much gearing with the 20's you are going to be begging for power to turn those tires. I hope it works out for ya though.

that is a huge change but he went down about 5 inches on the tires (22 to 17). my tamers measure about 17 and they are really light so they will be easier to spin. It still is a HUGE gearing change. Just one way to find out. ride it and let us know.

i just talked to a lady at nacs, and she said they're backordered for 2 weeks:grr: Honestly i dont know what to expect. It is a big gearing change, but i have a 329 powroll kit, port/polish, oversized valves, flatslide carb, cam, and exhaust. I should at least be able to turn the 18s. and when you say gain 2-4 mph, is that over stock speed? so if i use that gearing with the 18s ill be 2-4 mph faster than a stock 300ex w./ stock gearing and stock tires? i cant wait to ride and reveal what happened

yea 2 - 4 faster then a stock one

I'm betting it will be more than 4mph faster than stock, you'll probably see more than 10mph more.

However, it will take you 15 minutes to get up to speed.

Thats gonna be a lot strain on your engine because of the gearing. another thing is, unless you have a realyl long straight, your prob not gonna get that thing to top out. What are you using it for anyway?

1 tooth up on the front - approx. 5mph
3 teeth up on the rear - lose approx. 5mph

since you are going 5 teeth down on the rear wont you loose speed? everything you gained with a larger front you lost with a larger rear. up on the front or down on the rear, that does the same thing. but you just cancelled out and lost speed. i could be wrong, but im pretty sure thats how it goes.

sorry, i misread your post. i thought you went from a 33 to a 38, not the other way around.

anyway, i know on my banshee, 1 tooth on the front or 3 teeth on the rear changes top speed by about 7mph. i would guess it would be between 3-5 on your 300.

anyway, just average 3-4 for each change (1t front, 3t rear) and you are lookin at roughly 10mph gain- just what wilkin said.

I ride a stock 400 except for the slip on. I just changed my rear from a 38 to a 37 and that gave me 4 more mph. I'm running 67 mph now.

You got a stock 300EX up to 80 MPH? :huh :eek2:

I figured wind resistance would hit you long before 80 MPH. How did you verify your speed?

With that kind of gearing, I bet it takes forever to get up to speed, you probably have to top off your tank just to make sure you still have fuel by the time you reach 70mph three hours later... :D

well lil_300ex_kid, you are a better man than i am. It is tight as hell for me to run a 14tooth front sproket. I highly doubt that a 15, or even a 16 would fit? sure its not a 14/34?
