As far as I know that does not pertain to dirtbikes only quads, and its not a law, its just a manufactures agreement with the consumer protection agency to cover there 6. Deralerships try to enforce it when they are selling ATv's to avoid possibility of losing there dealerships being pulled by the manufacturers from lawsuits.

LOL. Nice garage man..

I would race if I could (14 now, turn 15 in 3 weeks), but with my racing orginization (NEATV-MX, my dad works with the VP of it), if they catch you racing anything above a 90 and you aren't 16, you are kicked out and can NEVER race in the league again, so I don't wanna risk it..

wel Im 14 and dont listed to that dumb rule, good thing we dont have a flow-blown race thing over here cause then i might not be able to "race", but there arnt much for quad races here!:( If someone ( like a cop or someone) told me that I was too young to ride i would go off on him, and say how like its not the young ones that get hurt its the ones that ddint ever ride a quad before and what-not you all know how it is, theres some 14 year olds that could run sercules around a average 30 yr old!:ermm: The rule is DUMB and I pay NO attention to it!

i race in this class called ATV production. there is up to 300cc 4 stroke and 200cc 2 stroke from 14/15 year olds. there was one kid but his blaster was bored out too much. there isn't anyone running in my class yet except me so i'm running in D class. in my class you can double and people think i'm in D class and they yell at me so i think i'm just goin to move up to C class. 3 races i got 4 of 7 twice, 3 of 10, and DNF would have gotten 3 of 10 again. but no, i don't listen to that. that's bull crap. if they would be more realistic, up to 250cc under 12 and up to 450cc until 16 and anything higher you can get if you older than 16, then a lot more people would actually listen and wouldn't get hurt. o well, my dad used to let me ride his warrior when i was 10. i have a 300 now and next year i'm getting a 400.

yeah that rule really sucks. i was 13 when i started racing. i had to lie and say i was 16. then when i turned 16 i had to say i was 18 so i didn't have to take my dad to sign a waver. maybe with all this fibbing on my age they will throw me in the vet class when i am 27:p

when i was 11 i got my 250x, im 14 now and have a 250r with a fmf fatty, 38mm carb on the way, modded airbox, boysen rad valve, reed spacer, ac nerfs etc etc, the rule is b.s.

thats one of the reasons im switching to bikes. All the MX races and man made trails and orv parks go by th eunder 16 rule, so screw them...ill just get a 125.:p
Seriously, when i would go to the yamaha honda dealership and look at ex's, shees and raptors, they would give m that..you cant ride that attitude. Kinda funny though, i went inthere Friday to look at some 125s, but they didnt have any so i looked at some 250s, and they were all cool about it:p

Your size doesn't have a lot of effect on handling a quad...its more tallent

my cousin that is now 17 started riding when he was 4 and never owned a mini the first quad he rode was a quadracer 250 and his brother that is 12 and has a blaster actually pulls better wheelis than me on the EX

07-13-2003, 05:26 AM
i dont think it makes any sence that you can 5 and ride a dirtbike that goes 90+ or ride a snowmobile that goes over 100mph...but you cant be 15 1/2 and ride a blaster:ermm:

The track that i race at just turned to AMA rules partway through the year, and said that my little bro can finish off this year in quad c, but next year will need to race the mini class. So with the 250r market as it is at the moment, we are buying him a completly race ready 250r and then replacing the engine with a kx80 which we are having bored to a 90, with port polish, and a few other secret tricks we have up our sleeves (thanks to D.J. Spurling and his pit crew)!! that way he can race still, with a very trick quad, and when the time comes that he can race with the big dogs, he throws in the 250r engine and away he goes!

LOL around here there is only a Junior class and a pro class, and a mini class. Its pretty gay. I wish there were more classes. Theres a few kids that race in the junior that should be in pro too, but nobody forces them to move up.

14 and i have a modded banshee.......i got it just after i turned 14
the races that are like an hour from me that i went to, they don't even check for your age, you just sign up and race. it was pretty cool. i'll be bringing my 'shee there unless i end up selling it and getting the yfz450. 16 or over my *****!!!

07-13-2003, 11:51 AM
in april i went o my local kawi dealer and bought a new kfx on my own. that 16 year old rule is b/s and the neatv-mx rule is stupid to. i wanna race but my rents' wont let me and if they would, my mom would say no cuz of that rule. why cant we just do what we want and have fun. thats the way i see it. :o :ermm:

07-13-2003, 12:16 PM
the rules are total crap, In Iowa there are no regulations on bikes, you can be 8 years old and ride a cr500 with how ever many people you want on it too,,,, but a quad can only have 1 person and you have to be 16 to ride a above a 90, my lil bro is 12 and he can't even fit on a 90.... he rides a 300 around here, but he can't go to a state park

crazybuffalo
07-15-2003, 08:02 PM
thats unrealistic since age is just a number and does not show the maturity

JJWB023
07-15-2003, 08:29 PM
in some states you have to be 14 to drive a car here you have to be 16 but the 14 year old that lives inthe state where its legal to drive at 14 could drive a monster truck down the road but cant ride a atv legally...bs
