If it is the stock chain there isn't a maser link. If you loosen the carrier (like you're adjusting the chain) it should come off.
The other way is to use a chain breaker, about $20-25.
Or you can use a dremel like tool to grind down the pins.

raise the quad, rotate the axle looking for one link that looks different from the other, pry off the small outer piece holding the link together. also, try searching the previous posts if you need a pic or better instructions.

hope that helped.

The stock honda chains do not have a master link. It is just a continuous link chain. You will have to use a chain breaker if you want it off.

Honda isn't great at everything, and there chains don't have a master link. I didn't know this, and even called my dealer and asked where it was at. Stupid as he was, he told me there was, and to keep looking. About 5 minutes after I hung up the phone, he called me back and told me that there wasn't one, and that I needed the chain breaker tool. I said screw it, and used a pair of bolt cutters and cut my chain. I needed a new one anyways...So if you are gonna get a new chain, just use a pair of bolt cutters. Simple and fast:D

Honda isn't great at everything, and there chains don't have a master link. No master link= stronger chain, no weak link. Another alternative is a grinder. So far, we have grinder, bolt cutters and chain breaker tool, any others. A hacksaw might work, take awhile.

Can you get it off, if you take off the swingarm? That doesn't sound like fun though, especially for just cleaning the chain.

I would have thought that Honda would have included a master link. The stock chains on my Honda three wheelers have master links...guess they've gone cheap on us! :eek2: :D

if you just want to clean it, get some brake parts cleaner, jack the rear end up and spray the chain real good. the brake parts cleaner should clean just about anything off that isn't supposed to be there!!!! Very flammable though... Good luck.

I don't think you should use brake cleaner on o-ring chains,... might eat the o-rings away. Find a cleaner that is safe for rubber and use that. I use Grease Lightning on my chain.

It shouldn't eat the o-rings as long as you don't let it sit on there for too long. I usually spray it on to clean it and then spray it off with a hose right after. Haven't had any problems yet!!!

If you want the chain off, take a grinder to the pins and grind them even with the side plate, then pry it apart with a big flat head screw driver, i clean my chain with wd-40 and a nylon fingernail brush. My chain always looks new because of it.:bandit:
