View Full Version : Might sell the R

I've been thinking about selling the R lately.

I have a broken shoulder right now, but I am thinking of either building a CRF, buying the new Yamaha, or making the full time switch to bikes.

The quad has 95% new parts, and I spent over $10,000 on it this winter alone. I only raced it about 10 times since new.

Has Laeger's CR500 link frame, JRD a-arms, Houser stem, and PRP swingarm. Axis shocks all the way around. And tons of billet parts.

The motor's a TC ported 265, top end was new as of 1st race. a new un-used piston would come with it. Sparks TT pipe w/ ESR silencer, 39mm carb, K&N filter w/ V-force reed cage.

Body's blue Maier plastic w/ ONE graphics and seat cover. Hood has cracks but would be replaced. AC custom pro pegs, grab bar, and stadium bumper.

I would sell it whole for $11,500, if I buy the Yamaha or switch to bikes

Or might part it out if I decide on a CRF project....

I am not sure on any of this, but it could happen. I'll let everyone know.

why would you ever want anew bike or a differnt one? i mean if my bike was that sweet I would never sell it, well maybe if I had it for a long time, but think your a good rider, cant really think of any pics but your a good rider from the looks of the bike, so if your good on a bike why would you want to switch to a DirtBike, well youve probably rode them more than I have, but i dont think i could ever switch!:ermm: But if I were you id keep the r I mean look how modded that baby is it would be better than a new YZF, but then agin if you could get that price for your r you could put money into the YZF, i dunno I say keep the r and see what honda does oif ya want a new bike, how did ya brake the shoulder, thats not good man! Good luck healing!;)

Jason in my opinion I would keep it becaue you have put so much hard work into it and you love that quad.

But if ya wanna keep up with the changin times then build a CRF.

If you wanna stay ahead wait and buy the Honda and race Pro Production. Because the open classes aren;t gonna be much of anything in a while....

I don't see how you could want to sell that quad. If anything, sell the engine and build a CRF out of what you got....now thats not a bad idea :D

dont sell jay, like sparks said. you have too much money and time in that thing. it seems like your finishes are good at all your races, so why switch quads?

man dont sell it you have way to much money in that thing and the r's value is dropping like a brick these days. I think you might be better off keeping it for a while and see whats come out from honda and try to race proproduction

outta date? its more in date then the 400ex :eek2:
its liquid cooled and the 400ex is not... plus his R is all ready for racing. you buy that new yammi, you gotta put all that money into it again to make it race ready, ya out of the box the motor is fast, but you still got aarms, axle, pipe, nerfs, ect to make it competive. i say keep it and see what honda puts out. i think you did a great job on that quad and should just keep it.

you wanna play big, you gotta pay big. a quad that nice will always need money being put into it, to keep it in tiptop shape...
if only they made 250rs new:rolleyes:

KEEP IT! :blah:

I'll probly keep it, because I know I won't get what I want out of it. I got another R in pieces in the basement too, so I'll still have an R. I'll prolly end up getting a Yamaha and keep both 250's. We'll see come spring time.

Keep the R jay.. you will miss it when it's gone if you sell it..

try out the new yammi if you can.. im still wondering if honda will ever Find their balls again when they realize they might still have them lyin around in a small box in some basement..

probably they will be too un-used to still make the Race ready bike we all want to see:rolleyes:

how do you know it's a POS poser? have you ridden one? they are probably a lot better than the old 250r's since these are brand new cr250r engines in them, right?

i would probably keep that or put a 4storke motor in it cause it has to handle good and has lots of power unless your just wanting somethng differnt to ride.
