my friend has a 2002 300ex and we were riding and doing some pretty big jumps and landing hard, most of the time bottoming out. when we got home his back shock felt pretty springy not like it used to be, so i was just wondering how u tell if ur shock is blown
thanks

sounds like what happened to me. it compressed really easy. and bottomed out alot. but just keep riding it. if there is no oil. keep riding it. it will get better.

its not leaking oil but what would cause it to be springy?

i dunno. mine did that too. and it dont go shuu or make the noice when you compress it. you could also lift on the tire and you could bottom out the shock. but i just rode it like that and it got better.

if i remember right when its blown u push down, its hard to get it down, but it comes back up really fast. or it was the other way around? i dunno :huh

I have a raptor shock that is blown. I could push it down easy and when i let go it would spring up and down. When I rode with it i was consatly bouncing up and down. There was also a little oil on the metal rod.

That kinda sounds like what happened to my shock on my 400ex. When I pushed it down it would immediately spring right back up. I didnt see no oil leaking out or anything. It was real rough when riding. It was the head seal in my shock or something like that. Christian Paul Motorsports fixed it for me and now its just like new no more problems.

if the shock is blown when i compress the shock it should spring back up very quickly, faster than it would if there not blown, this is b/c when u blow them u lose oil and the oil makes the shock almost restrain itself from expanding so quickly!!

hope i helped

Yeah, just look for leaking oil. My friend went on an MX track on his Polaris XPress 300 with me on my Warrior. Needless to say he blew out all three shocks after 2 laps. :D
