I am havign some go-cart problems..its about 4 years old. I was riding today and the cllutch..it looked like anyways, started squeeling and smoke started coming outta it i think. Anyways, tore it down in about 15 minutes and found the auto clutch seeems to have a bit of play in it. Do you think thats what happened it that i burnt up the clutch?

The clutch is probably toast if it started smoking. Its not a hard repair.

An impact wrench should take it off.

impact or rig something up to have your buddy hold the clutch basket while you take off the nut

i know whats wrong with ur clutch. u said it four years old right. if u did then ur clutch is worn out and u need to replace it. trust me, mine is doin the same thing but i still havent replaced it. u can still ride it but it will eventually screw up the engine

The clutch is prob in sad shape. The bearings sound worn if it was high pitched noise or friction material is missing. If you don't have an impact wrench, take off the sheat metal on the opposite side of the engine and hold the flywheel while losening the nut on the end of the shaft. You will prob need to pry off the clutch or use a puller, two pry-bars should work.

Can i rebuilt this? or would i be better off just getting a completely new unit?

u would be better off buying a new clutch because if u rebuild it, its not gonna last much longer and if u buy a new one, it'll last longer than a rebuilt one and its cheaper too.
