Which weighs less; aluminum or rubber?

Let's say Holeshot XCR rear tire with a .190 aluminum wheel. Would it weigh less with a 8", 9", or 10" wheel?

Less aluminum, but more rubber on the tire. So is that still true?:confused:

I'd guess the 10 inch wheel would be lightest. But you are going to get too many dented rims. The 8 inch wheels would get fewer dents but at the cost of sidewall flex. That's why most XC racers get 9 inch wheels. Regardless of size, with regular .190 wheels, you are going to get a lot of dented rims. When I ran Douglas .190 (red label) rims, I had to replace the rims more often than tires. I now have some Douglas Ultimate rims with the rolled edge and they have held up great. They are over a year old and are still round. If you still have your stock rims use them. They are lighter than the .190s and since they have a rolled edge they are stronger.

the aluminum is lighter than the rubber. the bigger the rim the more weight you will save because you'll have less rubber.

I was wondering the same thing... I am going with the bigger rim though, Your not adding a whole bunch of aluminium either... Can anyone get specs? weights?

your not going to notice the weight difference inany of the set ups, so get the 9 inch wheel for the best perfomance. the sidewall is tall enough for a smooth ride, and short enough for corners.

yup, and if you need a replacement or wanna sell the odd sizes, not gonna happen as easy as with the 9"
