I wrestled for Dover High School 2 years ago. Went to states twice also. You wouldn't have seen me though if you wrestled states in NY. I wrestled in Delaware 8th grade year, 9th, and half of 10th. I am 17 now. Wrestled 119 weight class my last year.

I was using Whey Protein Powder, really popular at the time. Seemed to help a lot. Designed to help build and nourish muscles immediately after workout.

I dont know what I can do now, but at 5 years ago at age 15 155, I benched 295, squated 450, and dead lifted 650 (won first at state). The next year I blew my knees out deadlifting (trying for state record for all classes, 1000) and havent maxed out since. I can probably do about 275 now but cant squat or deadlift any more

I used to work in a lumber yard, and would frequently lift 60# sacks of concrete 3 or 4 at a time, but the store record was 7 at once! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.

I'm 24 and I've been bodybuilding and powerlifting since I was 15. I'm 5'9" and around 230lbs. I don't max out very often but my PR on flatbench is 455lbs, 550lbs on deadlift, and 675lbs on squat. I train 3-5 days a week and eat 5-8 high protein meals a day.
I noticed that a lot of you guys are very young. How much weight your pressing right now doesn't matter. Focus on your form and nutrition. Strength will come with time and hard training. I would hate to see you guys drop a nut at such an early age trying to impress your friends..LOL.. TRAIN SMART!

I'm now 5'10 188 lbs. I workout with football and last monday I put up 245 but it probly went down cause im a lazy *******. Does anyone else haveto be in a certain type of environment or with certain people to lift their max cleanly. When I'm around other people like on football i can't put up as much...What the hell is that
kaneman23
07-07-2003, 06:58 AM
It's probably because you are showing off. You shouldn't worry about your environment when lifting. In fact you shouldn't notice or hear anyone around you. If I were you I would stay in the 4-6 Rep range and stop worrying about your max. Do this and for a few weeks and 245 will be light weight..
bansheeguy77
07-07-2003, 07:58 AM
yup kanes right i used to try to max every time i lifted...now i usually pull like 4-6 reps of 135, 150, 185, and 205. it gets easier with time. you may not bench the most but you probably will look like ya do
kaneman23
07-07-2003, 08:40 AM
If you are looking to improve your strength and size you should incorporate some deadlifts and squats with your bench press. All 3 lifts compliment each other and will strengthen the larger muscle groups. Just remember to get plenty of:
- nutrition - protein, at least 1gram per lb bodyweight a day
- rest - don't overtrain! one muscle group or body part per week
- TRAIN - don't get lazy! develop a program and keep motivated. Change your routine and exercises often.
400exrules
10-25-2003, 02:24 PM
what exactly does taking protein do?
does it rebuild your muscles faster? .....or give you a bigger benefit from an exercise? because i worked out with curls real hard like 3 days ago and my arms are still soar, they cant bend alll the way out without alittle pain from soarness
Ballistic Atv
10-25-2003, 03:21 PM
You don't necesarily "take protein" there are protein powders, bars, and drinks that you take to get extra protein into your system. Protein is basically what muscles need(among other things) to rebuild themselves after they have been torn down by exercising, lifting weights, etc.
Yes, comsuming a higher level of protein will slightly increase your muscle rebuilding process, it does not give you a "better" recuslt from an excercise. Protein is contained in all meats, eggs, nuts, and certain grains.
When you are working out to gain muscle mass and strength you should be comsuming atleast 1 gram per pound of your bodyweight. I usually comsume 1 gram of protein per pound of my goal bodyweight. The soreness is caused probably because the muscles you worked out were not used that much strain or lactic build up, after continuing to workout, the time that you are sore after a workout will decrease. Also, dont make the beginner mistake of just working out the "show muscles" (biceps, chest, abs) workout each body part with as much intensity and consistency as the next bodypart. If you have any more questions, just email me or check out this website www.teenbodybuilding.com , they have tons of nutrition and working out info there.
