ok i have heard mixed things about Houser. i am wanting to get their Basic A-Arms(not the long travel) +2+0 and their +1 1/4 swingarm. what i wana know if these products are worth getting and does houser keep up to its standards with warranties and such. please let me know

07-04-2003, 10:23 AM
I heard their arms are great but they lack in the swingarm department. I hear they break fairly easy. :(

man freeride awesome quad. i wasnt thinkin bout going houser swinger after i read a few comments from other people about them on other forums. i think i may go laegers pro-trax +1 1/4 or may look into the RPM one. that RPM swinger looks awesome

I'm running 18" tires on 8" rims. I have my bike setup for MX...I chose to run a skid because I sometimes do other riding, and I just don't want to risk bending a rotor/sprocket...its cheap insurance.

I have one that was cracked at one time on the left side on the front part of the linkage mount, and have seen a couple other crack in the same place.

I also know a guy that cracked his...

They all seem to crack there, my laeger swingarm is 4 years old and in great shape though.

On the other hand housers a-arms and stems hold up good.

so i should spend the extra $25 to go leager. i think thats what im goin to do because i dont want to have to replace the damn thing after riding it for 6 months. how long of a warranty does houser have?

Actually if i was gonna buy a new one now i would probly go with the rpm im pretty sure you can bolt a stock style skid plate up to them. The extended laegers need a special skid plate that are a pain to find.

07-06-2003, 06:56 PM
i think my rpm swinger has a 3 or 1 year warranty , you should buy one of them i think there 600 bucks now but they come with every bolt and the brake lines holders and there nice:eek2:

07-06-2003, 06:57 PM
mines + 1 1/4 and i use a ac skid for the stock swingarm so it fits i guess:cool:

07-07-2003, 02:39 AM
All swingarms have and can crack.

I've run houser products all around for a few years and they have stood up to everything I can give them...

well i am runnin a houser swingarm, and +2 a arms for that matter. and in a year and a half i havent had any problems. and trust me im not easy on them either. but i know one person who broke their houser swinger. but i also believe that aftermarklet suspension also will help against cracks too.

My two cents :
1. People break swingarms because the rear shock needs rebuilt or set up for their body weight.
2. People case jumps.

I feel I can break anything given enough time and beer.
But still think the houser is one of the heaviest duty swingarms on the market.

I think it's funny how alot of people spend half a day at the track caseing jumps or crashing, and then get home only to break something riding in their yard. Then tell people I just sat on it and it broke.

ok i think im getting a houser +1 1/4 swinger. im wanting to know of a low pro swinger skid because i do more than just race mx. any ideas? also does a regular skid bolt up to a ext houser swinger? i have heard somepeople say they dont

mx400
I think just about any skid plate will work.
I run a DG skid it fit great.

The only down fall is if you want to run a chain slider with a skid plate you will have to cut it for clearance. Luckly aluminum is real easy to cut on a table saw just make sure you got a carbide tip blade.

07-07-2003, 02:49 PM
ok thanks man. i know i will be getting houser now. just need more money. also the cutting is no prob. thx again

07-07-2003, 04:07 PM
when i bought my rpm it was only 550 why not buy the best swinger for the money

mx400
07-07-2003, 04:11 PM
because they are 600 right now and i dont wana spend that on a swinger.

07-07-2003, 04:12 PM
so ur gonna spend 550 on a houser ....trust me the rpm is alot nicer for the money but oh well

mx400
07-07-2003, 04:16 PM
freeride i know what your sayin. but im on a budget and wana build a decent mxer for little. i mean not dirt cheap but not ungodly 8000 price range

07-07-2003, 04:18 PM
i hear ya, but if your swinger isnt cracked id just keep riding on it and save up and buy a rpm, never rush when you build a quad

mx400
07-07-2003, 04:22 PM
true freeride. i may look into getting a RPM if i can find one for cheap. also i dont plan on building this quad in a year more like 2 years to 3

07-07-2003, 07:34 PM
Hmmm I wonder what C&D is selling those Houser swing arms for nowadays?????????????????????????????????????????? ????

If price isnt an issue I hear the Roll stuff is pretty nice

Cant say I have any first hand input on Housers swing arms but the a-arms have been excelent and the customer service has improved to where its excelent.

Any of the brands mentioned should do the job for you so decide what you like and can afford so you can get the stuff sooner and all at once etc.

The RPM might retail for around $600, but that doesn't mean thats what you have to pay....you can get deals on new parts all the time if you know the right people

07-08-2003, 05:18 AM

Try hitting up mxracer111@aol.com....he hooked me up on some RPM parts before. I'm sure he still has access to them.

Seriously though....if they are willing to offer a 3 warranty, that has to tell you something.
