Why are all the dodge diesel motors only a 6 cylinder??
Are they just as good as a power stroke 8 cylinder??

The dodge engines are straight 6's which makes them great for hauling. I bet you didnt know that most Semi's are 6 cylinders. The cummings (dodge) engine is a great motor. Put out the same if not more than the V8's.

a I-6(strait 6) enginge puts out amazing tourque for just having 6 cylinders. there are many ppl that think the ford 300ci I-6 is a crap motor when in reality it has proven its self again and again. 3/4 ton pickups(f-250, chev 2500) are used for pulling so they put a v8 in them right, well ill bet very few ppl know that ford actually put the I-6 in a few of them just for that reason and they are great on milage too. and chevy has started using them again, in their trail blazers.

dodge found something that works and stuck with it and made it better. the cummins enginge is a very reliable and tough engine. the problem with dodge is their auto trannys they put behind the diesel. although the dodge diesel and chevy durimax dont have the horse and tourque that the new 6.0 stroker does, check the banks turbo web site if you have a different opnion.

In my oppion I think that the strokers are the best over all but mabye thats just because I'm a ford boy. The dodge is a very good truck I think that they are one of the best sounding trucks on the road. The cummins are easily capable of 500,000+ miles with regular matence and not getting beat on everyday of the week. :)

my uncles father has an old dodge(not sure the year) with a cummings, well it has over 300,000 miles for sure, and the body is pretty beat up, he does not take care of it much, it is his work truck, owns a masonry business, and he pulls a trailor with it allot, with a tractor on the trailor and the bed full of masinry stuff, and he is just going to rebuild it this winter, for the first time i belive, and he just bought a 97 or 96 ram cummings 4x4, ext cab, long bed, huge truck. he says the cummings ram is the best truck h has owned. they are both std.

all diesels have their good and bad points, in fact, every vehicle has its good and bad points.. to each his own. if yer a ford man, then the stroker is for you. if yer a dodge man, then the cummins is for you. if yer a chevy man, the duramax if for you.... have a ball,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
