I have heard people talking about boring out a stock carb. Can it be done? And how much does it cost? And is it worth it?

I have a 416 and I plan on getting head work done.

you can bore a stock carb to 37.5mm i belivem that is how big mine is getting bored for my wesico 416 kit. I live in Canada and it is costing me $100. I have heard you get alot of top end out of it. but i shall find out. I am just waiting for my piston to arrive.

I looked in to this. Sparks did not tell me how much they bore. They did tell me it will flow like a 36mm flat side mikuni. Better throttle responce also with the stock carb mod.
Sparks 175.00

Rocky Ridge also bores carbs. 125.00 (I have heard, never could reach them)
I here it is a good mod for the money

One other company back east also works the stock carb.
125.00 (advertises in dirt wheels) Sorry could not rember who it was i talked to.

I decided to break down an buy a FCR 39mm. Just got it wednesday. Installing it friday.

From what I understand, alot of ppl are buying the crf450 fcr carb from HYONDA for $375. It has an accelerator pump, but no choke (I think). The choke can be purchased for the carb but I'm not sure for how much...

the 40mm FCR from the CRF is a good mod i hear but i hear its really hard to get in there cuz the carb itself is even bigger than the 41mm or somethin.

I have a 38mm bored stock carb with the choke completely removed on it's way to me right now. I'll be putting it on with just my k&n and e-series pipe - I'm interested to see what kind of boost I get out of it, more throttle response is the main thing I'm hoping for.
