re-packing the R4

has anyone ever re-packed their WBR4 exhaust? mine is almost two seasons old and sound a lot quieter than a new one. is this o.k? thanks for the help!

Re-packing once a year is average. Remove the end cap allen screws or drill out the pop rivets. Pull out the glass wrapped core unwrap the packing, wire brush the carbon off the core, wrap the new (cut to size) packing on and re-assemble. $10 (2 year supply of packing), 20 minutes labor with allens, pop rivets are a pain.

If the R-4 has allens put some anti-sieze compound on the screws before you put 'em back in and never over tighten.
