It's spinning really easy. Anyone know a fix outside of buying new? :scary:
thanks

wheel hub stud? thats just tiny splines. you proably just stripped them. you could try welding them but i'd get a new hub if thats what the stud is from

If you're talking about a rear hub stud - I have heard some JB Weld will hold it.

Aren't we talking about two different materials. Aren't the hubs aluminum and the studs steel? You can't weld two different metals like that. Please correct me if I'm wrong about what they're made of. I've heard this is why you can't buy just studs from Honda. :(

I believe the hub is stripped, not the stud. I think the stud is harder than the aluminum hub. :confused2

Well, a buddy of mine had the spines stripped on one and just used JB Weld on it and hasn't had any problems out of it - it's a lot cheaper and less trouble then a new hub. I think the tension holds it more than anything when you are on that last turn or so tightening it.

Been there..had this problem...turned out the stud was FUBAR, not the hub(thank goodness)..replaced it w/ 250R studs. Problem fixed.

So you just pounded out (I'll have to drill out the bad stud, nut won't come off) the studs and pounded 250r studs back in?

Yeah...that's about what we did. I have a post about this in the FAQ thread. Losta of cussing involved way back then.. lol.

***Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...please...
Yeah, the hub is aluminum, but if I am remembering correctly(from the last stud replacement we did on Rob's), there is a ring(for lack of a better description), on the hub, where the stud is at. Understand?? The ring must be steel too....????? That's why the stud strips b4 the hub...

Again..someone correct me if I'm wrong on this... I went out to look at ours but I'd have to take peices & parts off to get a better look...

Hhmm..

Anyhow....good luck infantry317!!!

Yeah, PLEASE let me know what, if anything, you find when you get the stud outta there.

Again...I could be wrong, I even asked my husband about it but he couldn't remember.... :(

Good luck...

Yeah I went to the local Kawi/Cat dealer that I get parts thru, they called a Honda dealer, at first they said that you had to buy the whole hub, then I gave them the part # for the stud, then they had to see if they could sell them, they hmmm and hawwd then sold me the 2 they had in stock. They'll be in Monday.
We'll see, Thanks again!

That's why we used the 250R studs..wasn't about to buy a whole freaking hub when, at the time, only one stud was bad...

keep me posted, I'd appreciate it...I'm kinda driving myself nuts wonder if I'm right or wrong about the hubs... lol ..maybe that's why I have a killer headahce this morning... j/k (but I do have a headache)

Later..Sher

Cut the nut off with a dremel if you can/ Should be easier than drilling a stud.
