Doing motocross on a 300ex might be tough on a 300ex depending on the types of classes they have at your track. If your running with 400s and raptors in an open class your gonna have to be a pretty good rider to stick with them. Im not saying its not possible but its gonna be tougher then if your were racing other 300s. First you should get some suspension definitely. Also if you have the money get a arms while your at it so you dont need to get the shock re valved. Then get a wider axle will complement the wider a arms. you might want to get a better rear shock too. Turf tames work well for motocross. If you want get serious and do engine work i would get a powroll or Fst 330kit. if you dont wanna do that much get a high comp piston. I got mine for $106. Bigger carb. cam. if you do all that you will have a sweet *** 300.

I would say get some razers, If your planning on doing alot of jumping maybe get a teather switch and nerf bars. There is a endless list but for starting out I would just say try to finish in one, and use your first year learning. A inexperienced racer has alot to learn so give it time.:D

you should be right there then on your 300. I would do what dirtrider said and get a tether switch. make sure u jsut dont go out and try to win the race your first time. you might regret it in the end when your quads messed up becuase you did something stupid. hope you have fun though.

Next year advance to the new Honda that will hopefully come out. My first race all I wanted to do was win and ended up having to get new rims and not finishing the race. The 300 would be a good quad for xc racing expecally for trails.:D

ya most tracks require a tether kill switch anyways so just go ahead and get one

i know if you run a 5.30 or under at the the drag races here
your required to have a tether kill switch, so i would just go get one and not have to worry about it

get some shocks. i bottom my works out on doubles. don't even think about doing doubles with the stock shocks. i went over a little 3 or 4 foot high jump and they bottomed and that was too much too soon. then i got my works and they still bottom. i think i need to get them revalaved though. wheelspacers help a lot. when your racing, always keep it in real high rpms, that's where it makes it's power, not in low end. when you try any big jump you have to use all your leg muscle and push down as hard as you can on the footpegs to keep your balls from slamming off the gas tank(learned that the hardway:eek2:).

make it wider and suspend it before you do anything with the engine...

get ready to spend a lot of money to get it race ready...especially since it is a 300 and not 400ex. I was getting ready to put all the money into my quad but realized i would never get it back....so I am going to buy a 125 dirt bike that is pretty much race ready off of the showroom floor and save a lot of money on stuff that you need to do to a quad that dirtbikes already have.
