Cool! More rappy hoods! This is awesome! Drews400ex - your hood came out really good - did you get the grill in yet? What did you use?

LOL - thanks Norrisboat - nice to know you got my back! ;) That prices was because I got my hood at a serious discount - at regular price though the hood still runs around $35 - at least the red one does! There are a lot of other colors to pick from nowadays, though - you guys could get really creative!

HMF - I'll pm you!

Hey, I saw her hood in Dirtwheels and fell in love instantly. With her help and a little patience, here is what I ended up with. I describe it as "a Raptor and 400ex had a baby and abandoned it, where it was raised by wild Banshees". Thanks again Corry!!! What kind of beer do you drink?:D

Sick? is that a good thing? I don't speak the lingo yet. Now if you said "trick" I might know that term. Seriously. Saying something looks sick around where I'm from means a bad thing. Let me know. Everyone is entitled to there opinion, even if they don't agree with me. :huh

yeah sick is a good thing unless you are literley sick. If someone tells you that your 4-wheeler looks sick, its a good thing. If they tell you it looks like a piece of *****, than no thats not so good.....Look awsome to me though, again nice job man,

I used some gutter guards (the small expanded metal pieces that keep leaves and junk out of gutters). Too bad the 400 is gone, I traded it for a raptor:eek2: . From what I've heard about raptors I'll be working on it more than ridin it. I think the one-way is already going out:mad: . Oh well, I might be gettin a c-dale soon.:D

How well do the collors match, stock red? Those look great.

The newer your stock plastics are the closer the match will be.....if your plastic is old like mine and a little faded, then the hood will be just a tiny bit darker red than your stock plastics. If you have newer plastics, I don't think the difference will be much....the Rappy red is just a tiny bit darker in shade.......not noticeable unless you are looking for it....:D

400grl

Well....I wanted one because it was cheap and pretty easy and it looked good - and no one else had one! :) I didn't like the 250R hoods and the other ones were more money than a new set of tires! So........that's why.:)

Well, it must be the fact that Michigan is so close to Canada, cuz those darn Canadiens have had an effect on me. I prefer my beer to come from the great white north, I'm talking aboot Canada, eh. I love nothing more than to chug down a liter of Labatt Blue every now and then. If I'm really feeling up to it, I might even get caught with a bottle of Molson Canadian. Corry, I respect your beer choice, but just don't expect me to have what you're havin'.

Do you half to cut away at the front fender to make it work? What does it take to do it.Step by step

Cwad_BoyEX
07-10-2003, 07:11 PM
How doy you do that step by step procedure?

MITrail400EX
07-11-2003, 02:18 AM
Well, heres a dumbed-down version of the instructions I was given:

1. Take off your front fender and remove the ignition switch, neutral light, and headlight assembly.
2. Cut off the little plastic "bridge" that was over the original headlights.
3. Trim the "bulge" off of the top of the raptor hood to clear the steering stem.
4. Just keep trimming your stock plastic until the hood sits flush.
5. Cuts the 8 small slots into the stock 400ex plastic to allow the tabs on the hood to fit.
6. Make some sort of grill using expanded aluminum or gutter guards.
7. Attach everything, including making new holes in the hood for your switch and neutral light.
8. Go for a ride and pay attention to the stares you get from people riding both Raptors and 400ex's.
If you want more detailed instructions email me at EWilliams@cosworth-technology.com and I'll send you the ones I went by.
BTW, the hood you want is the 03 Red model. It should run around $30 from a Yamaha dealer. You can get other colors to match aftermarket fenders, but they all cost more.
