250x not starting

my buddy has a 250x and we cant get it started. the compression is fine and its getting spark..we've tried spray starting fluid in it and everything..only thing we can think of is the timing is off..is there anything else that could be wrong..everything seems fine on it..it backfires sumtimes but doesnt start

did you recently rebuild it & thats why you think the timing is off??

Can you confirm the carb is working correctly... if you have spark, you need gas. If you have those two in working order, then i would look onto other items.

i would check the carb, make sure it is getting fuel

also, is your kill switch in the on position, is you gas on, do you have gas in it, does it need to be on reserve, are you using the same starting sequence like usual (choke)

yes it has spark and is getting gas. we even sprayed starting fluid in it to see if it was the gas but i guess it wasnt

check your killswitch, may need to adjust your valves, it doesn't happen offten but maybe your valves got totaly off wack and they need adjusting, then i would say timing

unless you are running really lean but i dought it
