Well I got a good deal on an 03 red 400EX. Loving it so far, although it's a bit hard to slide around with the stocks tires. I'm interested in XC/GNCC racing maybe next year(just for fun). What would be everyones opinion on the top 10 things to do first? I'm on a budget so I don't really need the top of the line parts, just stuff that works. Also it will be my daily rider in the woods of the northeast. :D

1. Tires (6ply)
2. Skids
3. Bumper
4. Shocks
5. Steering damper
6. Gripper seat cover
7. Beadlocks
8. Pre-air filter
9. AfterMarket Foot Pegs
10. exhaust (bottom end)

I chose tires because u want all the bite u can get and tough tires, shocks for obvious reasons, gripper seat cover so u dont slip off in the mud, the foot pegs for same reason, and the exhuast for the extra torque. Atleast thats what my top 10 would be. And the ones i didnt mention are for obvious reasons

Don't forget some of the requirements for racing:
- Tether kill switch
- Motorcyle boots
- Chest protector
- Goggles
- Helmet DOT or Snell approved
- Gloves
- Long sleeve shirt
- Long pants
- AMA Membership
- Possible district registration

Other than that, you already have what you need to race. Stock Honda 400ex's have done well at races!!:) But I would definetly invest in Cross Country tires!:D (If the above does not push you over your budget). :)
