1993 Mitsubishi Mighty Max, and yes.... the model of the car is a "Mighty Max". I've already rolled it, and ran it into a parked tractor (long story). Still runs, it's a tank! The audio equipment inside is worth more than the truck itself, as well as my new quad ;)

I had a pair of 1980 Chevy Citation's. One my grandmother gave me and one I bought in North Carolina when I was down there visiting family. My grandmother's Citation body was shot but it had the big 2.8V6 in it while the NC car's body was excellent but it only had the 2.5I4. So at 15 I swapped the motors and put the V6 in the NC car and I was rollin' in style...lmfao:D

Here's a couple of pics of my first car that my dad and I restored a few years ago. I still have it, but only drive it on nice days now. It's a 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado, 455 bored to 463 ci, front wheel drive, all sorts of cool options like 6-way power bench seat, vacuum operated trunk release, the list goes on... This thing is a torque monster!!

If you guys want to see more pics of it and of some other cars my brother and I own, just click on my WWW link.

Best car I have ever owned durability wise. My dad put 180,000 miles on it before giving it to me and I ran it up to 310,000. Not a spot of rust on it and the only thing I ever put in it was new carb, shocks and ball joints.

Hey Tants - it is has the 5.2 V8, better go ahead and figure in the cost of a new tranny, if it hasn't already had one put in it :ermm:

Yep, all Toronados from their introduction in '66 up until '92 (the last model year produced) were front wheel drive. It's a pretty neat setup in my '68 Toro (hence my name-TORO1968). The engine sits in the chassis longitudinally as with your conventional rear wheel drive car, but it's offset to the passenger side of the car approximately two inches. The transmission has a typical flexplate/torque converter setup, however from there on, things get interesting. Right after the torque converter is a 2 inch wide, 1/2 inch thick Morse chain with 1200 links. This chain transfers the power from a gear attached to the rear of the torque converter to a similar gear attached to the input shaft of the transmission. The transmission is essentially a TH-400 turned around 180 degrees, mounted below the engine, towards the driver's side, right next to the oil pan. Instead of having a tailshaft on the tranny, it simply has a differential bolted up in its place. Connected to the differential on the driver's side of the car is a massive half-shaft equipped with constant velocity joints at both ends of the shaft, and on the passenger side, an intermediate shaft runs underneath the notched oil pan to an outboard bearing beneath the passenger side of the engine. From this outboard bearing, a CV shaft as found on the driver's side provides power to the passenger side front wheel. To provide room for the CV shafts, Oldsmobile engineers had to utilize a torsion bar spring setup, much like the ones found on independent front suspension 4x4 trucks you can buy today.

What's cool is, because of the orientation of the engine, absolutely NO torque steer is present, unlike most new FWD cars. And with over 500 ft-lb of torque available just over 2000 rpm, huge smoky burnouts are just a throttle pedal away! :eek2: :D You should see the reactions I get when people realize the smoke is coming from the FRONT WHEELS of a 19 ft long, 4500 lb car!

The best I've been running in the quarter lately is mid to low 15s at 90-92 mph. If I could get traction, the numbers would be a little bit better. But all in all, these are still respectable numbers based on the weight of the car, and the fact that the engine is mostly stock. When we rebuilt the engine, I lowered the compression from 10.25:1 to approximately 9.5:1 so I could run pump gas all the time, installed a mild aftermarket cam from Cam Dynamics, and most recently I installed a 800 cfm Edelbrock carb. Now the thing gets like 6 mpg in the city, so I think it's time to re-jet the sucker. The exhaust is 2.5 inch duals from the manifolds into a Flowmaster 80 series crossflow muffler with dual 2.5 inch tailpipes exiting straight out the back.

I could go on and on about these cars...I own three of them, and plan on getting more!!!:D
