hey.. this is thread is for a friend of mine who cant log in...

He took 6 discs out of his curtis sparks x-6..with 6 more remaining on. He is noticing a little bit more low end response.. and a bit more noise.. he is wondering how many you guys are running and he also says that he originally had it just a little rich to jet it.. and doesnt think there is a need to rejett as it isnt missing and is running great...

ok guys the x-6 does NOT have discs. its the spark arrestor that does. i have the complete x-6 with the spark arrestor. i ride in too many places that requires it. i guess there arent many people here that have it w/ the sparky. its a supertap spark arrestor and has discs just like a wb e-series. so i was looking for feedback on what would b the pros and cons of removing some discs. i took 6 off and have 6 left and havent noticed much of anything. maybe a tad louder but not sure. im going to call sparks and c what they say but i'd like to hear from some of u guys :D

I would think that removing discs would make your 400 quieter due to the increase in backpressure as the flow area is reduced. This increased backpressure should cause you to have better low end power, while also sacrificing top end power. You probably need to re-jet because you took out so many discs... Is it running rich now?

I have that same system on my wifes bike. It has 18 disks on it to keep it running strong on top. By removing discs you will make it quieter add some bottom end. I have never tried it with less than 10 disc it is to much restriction for the open end jetting that I am running. We only run the spark arrrestor once and a while.
