I have a 300ex thats cracked back by the battery. I was wondering if the right tools were used, if you could put a 400ex subframe onto a 300ex? Just wondering becasue most of the frame is good.

Anything is possible but just fix the crack instead of cutting the back off the 300ex frame and putting the 400ex subframe .

i woudve just fixed the crack but the crack is about 3/4s of the way threw the frame. Also the other side is bent up almsot directly across from the crack.

you could try man..if it didnt work u could get ya another frame for about $200

I bought my 300ex used in '97 with a welded crack near the battery too... To date, the weld is still holding strong! I would recommend having it bent straight, if possible, and welding the crack.

yep, just weld it back. then look on ebay for a frame, there pretty cheap, then have the new ebay frame gusseted, and painted and switch everything over.

About that broken 300ex frame. I have one that is complety trashed. Is the seat mounts the same for a 400ex?
