1986 250r rear shock on 2003 400ex?

Hey guys, I was looking at my friends 250r rear shock and was wondering if it would work? I did some measuring, it seems like the bottom mounts are even, but what about the tops? I can't get to mine to measure, too much stuff in the way. I figure if the 400ex's top mount is wider, I could fabricate spacers for it to work. Any help is appreciated.

i dont think they will work............:( just buy a 250r and cure the problems:eek: :devil:

the length of the shock is the same and making spacers for the top would work just fine but there is another BIG PROBLEM!! the linkage will not work !!
