Im running the sparks x-4, 155mj, uni filter, many drilled box holes, all brand new razers too.

I draged a BONE STOCK 400ex.
These were the results: I WON 2 times and HE WON like 6 times. He just got this 04 400 and its his first quad so he isnt a better rider. Am i missing something or shouldnt i be smokin him every time???:confused: :confused:

you may have ur jetting set up too lean or too rich

The 04 400ex's have 38mm carbs, tht would prolly do that trick

don't quote me on this cause i haven't seen any physical evidence on this but i have heard that the 04 ex's have a 38mm carb and higher flowing head, so i have been told could all be BS also

i know, i've read the website also but who knows it coulda been a typo other than the website i really haven't heard anything else about it, you would think that it would be advertised a little more than it is you know

Well I guess if they are selling the 04 models they should have the specs on the carb at the dealers.

Might be time to call one up and see....:D

Yes. I wonder if they tweaked the timing, ports, exhaust, or anything else while they were at it. I think they are really trying to get the EX to at least compete with the Z400.

I have my hotcam stage 2 here with my JE Piston and im wondering weather theres somethign else wrong that i should fix before throwing the big stuff in

Unless there is a noticable problem with it (noises, smoke, etc), I bet it is fine. I wouldn't be surprised if the '04 EX's would run with a piped EX of previous years. A 38MM carb is definitely an improvement. It would be nice to talk to some owners of '04s to find out what the real scoop is. If you see this guy again, see if you can switch quads, because if he still beats you, he might just be a naturally good racer.

well, like people said about the jetting and weight and newer model ect..

could of also been how he broke it in and the size of his rear tires and his gearing, if he beat you from a stop, you might be able to take him from a fast speed roll

also, maybe he had more traction than you........yeah, you have to much power........lol.........but seriously maybe he had more traction
