T-4 VS Megamax

In my experiences with both pipes heres how it went.

I had the T4 slip-on on y 250X and a friend had a Megamax on his 300EX. I rode both, I and the owner of the 300EX thought the T-4 gave more power and it was quite a bit quieter then the megamax. All and all the T-4 is worlds better.

I currently have the FMF Mega Max II complete system. I chose it because I live on the west coast and there are noise restrictions in Coos Bay, Florence and Winchester Bay that require a 93 DB noise at half throttle. The Mega Max II with the quiet core is the only aftermarket PERFORMANCE pipe that can do that. That being said, there are better options for performance out there with no regard to noise, including the Yoshimura Pro and Race complete systems. An in-between pipe, that is better on performance than the Mega Max II is the FMF Power Core 4 with the power bomb header. I've ridden with all of these and think the Yohsi is the best on the market, but again, I am happy with my Mega Max II because it is a performance pipe yet still is quiet enough not to get a ticket!

FMF Power Core IV2 Q (man thats a lot of words) is 93db and runs stronger than stock. Also, With the White Brothers and Big Gun quiet core you can run at 93 DB

I live in washington too, I havent riden any dunes yet but I bought my T-4 because it's got a spark aresstor and It only comes up too 94dbs so Im good everywhere. No ticket needed if I get caught somewhere without a spark aresstor and I can go to all the ORV parks and stuff. So its nice

The last time I looked at the stats the Power Core 4 did not meet the Oregon testing standards. But, I have not checked the specs for about 3 months, so its possible that the 'Q' model meets it. Keep in mind that many manufacturers just test at idle, not 1/2 the potential RPM of the bike. Thats the difference in the Oregon standards of measurement over the industry. Oregon does have a website that shows most of the pipes and how they measure, but its a little behind. Check it out at Oregon OHVA Honda Sound Tests (http://oohva.org/pages/hondatest.html)

So the t-4 gives more power, but it is louder than the megamaxx?

From the reading I have gathered, it appears that T-4 gives more power, but is slightly louder than the Megamaxx. Also, it appears from the reading that both have spark arrestors. The loudness isn't as much of a factor the lower the size of the engine. So, I think your going to be ok with the T-4 from a legal standpoint. You'll want to verify with the manufacturer, and your state regulations before you purchase.
