Hey guys,

What's the best way to clean up some plastics with pretty good amount of scratches?? I am hoping to land a 400ex, that the guy bought and only rode it... hard. I doubt it was ever washed......Plastics are pretty scratched up.

Any suggestions ?????

Thnx

well...buying new plastic is a way....i herd about running a torch over it or a heat gun...but whatever you do..don't use plastic renew it doesn't work. automotive clear coat works good on making them shiney or you could use some armorall that makes it look really nice.

get some wax compound..for a car..get some real coarse stuff..then get finer stuff..then get the finishing stuff..and buff away

Listen to Nacs guys...I live by him, and before he polished up his plastic it looked HORRIBLE...it looks much better now. I was seriously impressed.

Actually Plastic Renew will work.... It just takes a ton of work and it does not last as long as you might hope.

Don't try the heat thing, it's not really worth it, more likely to make it look worse.

I just keep a good coat of Formula 2001 on my plastic after I wash it up. I figured I could buy new plastic, buff it out...but its just gonna get scratched up again. 2001 was my simple solution...

I also use Formula 2001 and I think it works great.

Lacquer thinner will really shine plastics up, but I'm not too sure about removing scratches..

it all depends on how long u feel like buffin but if u have a buffer go at it alos be careful because i can burn ur plastic like u can burn paint wit a buffer (if it gets too hot)

im not sure if you can get it at wal mart...i got it from a guy that deals for auto magic, im not sure where else would carry it...and no it does not dull the plastic..the roughest compound does a little bit..but its made to get the scrathes out....then the next one up is for finishing-removing scrathes...then the last step is for finishing only and gives the plastic a great shine

do u use a wool buffing pad, or a foam one
