Hey, if you guys get a chance go over to service Honda and check out their 250R. It's a 400EX hybrid but it's actually kind of neat. they are selling it as their 2004 model. Interesting:ermm:

310 pounds!? that is pretty impressive if it is accurate. Does anyone know how much more a 400ex engine weighs than a 250r engine?

but i wish it had the 250r plastic, :scary:

i wonder how it runs, i hope someone from this site buys one. :eek2:

I hate it. Looks slapped together. I'd take a 400ex over that anyday...especially if its $8k.

I seen it at Red Bud when i went there it looked ok but it just seams like it would fall apart w/o a counter balance, a 250r is bad enough raddeling bolts and with out a counter balcance it has to be crazy i dont know about those things:ermm:

That is such a rip off.

It woul be much cheaper to buy a stock 400 (new or used), then go on ebay and find a ued 250r motor for lik $500 +/-.

Did any one notice how high the prices were for shocks, a-arms, tires, rims etc.? For example, for a pair of Ohlins front shocks they want $1,500. And for LSR a-arms i think it was around $850 for standard travel. Not trying to bash Service Honda cause they have CHEAP prices when it comes to buying OEM parts but they are asking way to much for that 250r IMO.

........OK, no one on here wants to admit that they are blowing it in their pants over that quad, come on, its a CR250 motor, it will destroy a 250R motor (no powervalve) and it would probably knock the pants off the GasGas 300hp.

Why not more positive things about that quad?

Could anyone else find a 400EX bike or frame and a CR250 motor or bike and combined them into a quad for less than $8000.

If you can do it for less than $8000, start your own business to compete with service honda.

I've been waiting for them to come out, and fully plan on getting one as soon as possible. I have one more bike to sell and I need 1400 after that I have to borrow. I'll give a review if I get one defiantely, as long as they're not sold out by the time i cnn get one in a few weeks.

im more impressed by that then the quad !! the quad is not going to hold up in my opinion !! i know that people on here have cracked thier 400ex chassis using the YZ426 and that CR250R is going to vibate that chassis to pieces !!

Being that it is a 2-stoke dirtbike it doesnt have a counter balcance if u look at the front of the motor just below of the cylcinder on a 250r you will notice that the cases go out there unlike the bike that is where the counter balcace is on the 250r, and GETSOME not to be a dick man but u can find a totally tricked R out w/ a powervalve and aftermarket frame for 8g. I wouldnt waste my money on it u can prob build it for less than 6 1/2g or less cuz u can get a ex for like 3,000 and the bike for the same price then u can still sell ur ex motor and whole roller of the bike.

A CT or LRD powervalve jug on top of a 250R bottom end does not make as much or the same type of power as a CR 250 dirtbike engine

i just think its stupid....... honestly u can buy a 400ex.... for like 3000.......... sell the motor for a grand more or less and buy the CR250 engine and put it in......... i dont think that the dirtbike engine is going to cost 1000 bucks ( again more or less ) so really it might only cost you 2700 ( more or less )

Thats the way im looking at it.......... maybe im tottally wrong.....

Honda isn't building this. It is an OEM parts distributor.

and the cost for your labor? Modifying the frame for the motor? Wiring? Carbuartion?
This motor is counterbalanced. I think this thing will blow away a lot of the competition. Plus its a 400ex frame, you can use all your aftermarket chassis parts that are already out and they'll bolt on... I think its worth it

i think this thing is freakin awesome, i think its gonna rock....but there is no way in hek that its gonna hold up, lol:ermm: i mean think about it, a CR250 engine, in a stock frame........ NO......... this thing is gonna vibrate like a mother, there is no way that the stock frame is gonna hold up, maybe an aftermarket frame, but not a stock frame...plain and simple:ermm:

As I recall service honda said it is not counterbalanced but has been pretty vibration isolated... I would have to see it to believe it.

I've read that the motors are out of the cr250 bikes that ServiceHonda convert to 500r's, so they are not counterbalanced. Over on Rriders it's posted that the price for the new quad is $9200!!

see now thats a worthwhile post!
any of you ever think of the motor issues, such as how the cr porting is way more for top end, even with the powervalve? what if you ever need a pipe, you gotta get one from SH.
my 250r counter balancer bearing just went. it cracked my headstay in half, cracked one front motor mount, ripped one of the bottom motor mounts off the frame, and cracked the other one. imagine riding like that all the time!!! motor might fall right out! :p

How is it that it has been counterbalanced? Does service honda make new cases for every motor? I doubt it.
