Ok guys, I've replied to some posts about cams. I usually give praises about the XR cam. My question is there anyone on here who has ever had a HRC cam in their 400 and how did they like it. Also, how does it compare to the XR. If you guys can help, That would be great!

It's much better than a stock XR400 cam.

Honda racing company..AKA HRC designed the cam for the XR400 dirtbike as a hop up cam. I don't think you'll be disappointed being it's made by Honda, designed for the 400ex motor and it's a drop in. It's on my to get list for this winter...

Same here Rico. It's on my list but just want some first hand experience. I'm really curious how much more power and if anyone has any complaints such as "gain a little here but loose a little there".

Quadman,
The HRC, WEB450/451, HotCams Stage 2 (and all the re-boxed) are all very close in specs and performance. The HRC is probably the most compatible with stock non-hardfaced rockers. I've ridden an EX with the HRC cam and it ran as well as any similarily modded 450/451 or HC Stage 2 cammed quad. You can expect the low end "hit" to be a little softer with a much improved mid and top over the XR sibling. If my un-hardfaced rockers ever fail I'll be using the HRC cam (with new rockers) for sure. That's if I still have it after Honda steps up to the plate.

I have the HRC cam in my 416. Have about three rides on it. I can say it was well worth the purchase. Honda quality Nice gains through out. I did not notice much if any loss in the low end. I was running 15 / 39 gearing before. Switched back to stock gearing 15/38. Still climbs the hills very well. The mid to top power pulls very well. I would go for it. You won't be disapointed. :D

I ordered it from planet honda. They had it in stock at the time. Was about 5 bucks more than service honda at that time.

I've been very disapointed with mine. I was using the 15/39 combo before the cam, like JD400exrider, but after getting the cam I had to stay with that gearing to have enough low end for the woods. The downside to that is that my 440 is no faster than a stock 400 with a slip-on in the higher gears. I also have a 400 with the stock XR400 cam. It has a lot more torque that allows me to get away with 15/37 gearing. Next time my 440 gets rebuilt it will be getting the XR400 cam.
