bent my frame a tad....

Just a tad:huh . What the hell happened?

i was goin down a trail......my friend was commin up the trail....i heard him comming so i started slowing down (doing like 15-20 mph)... then he saw me and locked up his tires......i turned off the trail, and he slid into that same spot.....we hit really hard.......he flew off......i fell off the side into bushes........etc. we both pretty much slid off the trail into the same ****ing spot....and hit lol. he rides a 400ex.... his has alot less damage (honda is best).

my frame is gusseted too......imagine what woulda happened to the stock piece of ****. all i know is after i fix it .....its going to be forsale, and i will get an EX or an R. so this accident is good and bad at the same time:p

that sounds like a good plan :D

you should also consider selling the 250x, and buying a used but decked out 400ex, some nice ones have been goin for pretty cheap lately

yup, im bringing it to a local shop today...to get an estimate on the damage for the insurance.... as of now it looks like the insurance will pay for the damage, hopefully.

they said if its damaged too much it will be considered "trash"

i thought...... that the Z being considered trash is nothing new to me...its been trash since the 1st day i got it.:cool:

ya, thats a good idea..... i was thinkin about a brand new ex, but why not get a used one w ith some mods... then i wont have to start off with it being all stock . or just find a stocker for cheap...which would be nice.


when my friend got his 400ex, its a 2000 and was bone stock in MINT shape..even came with a helmet and gloves for only 3500. This is the type of deal i wanna find. but first the Z has to be fixed , then sold..so this will probably take some time.

but i am starting to like our z400, the power over rules all other... i am able to do jumps with the z400 at a lot lower rpm then with my 400ex... that is why she is for sale,i ride the z so much know that my ex is starting to feel like a 300ex(i know a little bit egagerated)... but i am worried about jumping the z400 know becuase i don't need to buy another axle for it, hopefully the yzf450 isn't frame based on the z400 or else there might be problems...
But why are the z400 frames so much weakier then the 400ex?? almost exact same geometry and demsions, i could be wrong but it is pretty damn close....

But why are the z400 frames so much weakier then the 400ex?? almost exact same geometry and demsions, i could be wrong but it is pretty damn close.... this is what i heard from LRD....suzuki copied the 400ex frame almost exactly...they modified it to fit the drz400 motor...then they basicaly chopped the front half of the frame off, and replaced it with the same geometry front end, but made up of a lighter steel tubing to save weight..but the frame still weighs more than a 400ex frame

good luck getting a frame. i'm not sure how suzuki is with parts and stuff, but i bent my 400ex frame in the same spot as yours and honda had it on back order for 3 months :cuss: i did all the work my self with friend help swaping everything to the new fram and did it all on a sat. afternoon. just for kicks i called the dealership to see what the shop would charge for that and they said 2 grand just to put everything on a new frame :eek:

No sense getting thrown in the can for insurance fraud since the quad will most likely be totaled anyhow.

Got to love full insurance coverage, too bad they wont sell it here.

A good friend of mine had a Crapptor, and during a XC race, he busted his rear brake rotor and didn't realize it until it was too late. Smashed the frame, a-arms, plastic, bumper, and shocks. Insurance covered the whole thing. The best part is his dealer used aftermarket shocks and bumper, because they were the same price as the stock parts. Free mods. Now its setting in a shed with a locked up motor and trashed tranny. Still racing, but on a 400EX now.:D

yup, hondas are tough, my friend flipped the z off a smaoo cliff, onto a tree(not really a clif, kinda a dropoff) busted the radiator, lights, fenders
just rolled my ex at the quarry, flipped twice, landed on me, still very riadable, cant tell at all it was flipped

my buddy down at Hatfield McCoy 2 years ago was doing a very large hill climb at this play area (small rocks/loose dirt)...well he ended up loosing it and the quad rolled atleast 70-80 yards (about 20 rolls). All said and done....he bent his a-arm up, tie rod was bent, slip on exhuast was bent, plastic had a few big scratches in it, one tire bent up pretty good and the handle bars were tweaked... all and all.... he rode the SOB out of there (about 20 miles to the trailhead), at a good pace too!... now thats a honda for ya!!!


I'd hate to see one of these new quads do the same rollover in the middle of nowhere in WV. :eek: Could be a long walk...(banjo's playing the in background)
