Oh yah I know paint chips but i've ben lucky with it so far so please dont tell me a million times its going to chip. Well any way let me know if you like it, it was a crap load of work getting it all right. oh yah the OMF shrouds are new, I like them.

the only mistake that you made is YOU painting it, i could paint a frame and it would not flake off at all. you obviously didnt prep it right or used the wrong paint.

I used .89 per can spray paint laugh if you want but it holds up great. As far as powder coat im 15 and i'm just now getting a job so i couldnt really aford it and plus why put 200 into making my frame nice when i could buy better stuff to mod the bike, I dont mind doin a few touch ups here or there every once in a blue moon. I think I will proubly get it PC'd when ever the money is right thoe.

I did my frame one. I stripped it to bare metal sanded primerd and then about 5 coats of paint. And it chipped after alot of riding. I wouldnt ever do it again. I donmt think u can prep a POS way of doing something for it to turn out good. It may hold up for dunes but not MX

Well, i guess having a dad that has done custom paint for 25+ years has its advantages. i painted my old 400ex frame, and never had a problem

i just painted mine today. i have a buddy that works at a bodyshop and he got me sum paint and we painted that bad boy. i didnt even sand it all the way down and primer. i just scratched it up pretty good and degreased. it said it should hold up good. alot of it is the kind of clear u got. also you need to mix a couple of things in with your clear

I think it looks good - and if you 15 years old and have alot more time then $$, then why not? What's the worse that can happen - it flakes, and he spends another 5 bucks and does it again?

I did one of mine just to see how it would hold up beofre i did all that extra work on the other one too well the stupid things rusted in ONE night in a garage that had to be pushin 90F. LOL oh well we learn from are mistakes and it's getting painted back red, but it did look sweet as all crap for a day but i like the red alot too LMAO :eek2: :huh  :blah:

I wasnt ever going to say this but if you want the paint to stay on the frame at min use an EPOXY primer so it wont have adheasion issues like that black frame posted earlier.

It wouldnt be a bad idea to use a single stage urethane or even an industrial paint as opposed to a base clear auto type paint.

And dont forget to think about a flex additive so its not so brittle and flakes off from that either.

If this sounds like too much then just use a redially avail spray can paint that you can touch up easy, and yes thats what honda does :D :blah:
