Most standard nerf bars can be used with the black footguards. I have AC propegs and love them. They replace the black plastic heal guard with an aluminum one. I am curious why you would not want to take the stock heal guards off?

i thought by taking off the plastic guards you would get mud on the back of your legs. maybe im wrong. thanks dan

I too did not want to ride without heal huards. I run mostly XC and like the added protection. The AC propeg heal guard gives the exact same coverage as the stock black ones. Some people choose not to put them on, mostly mx riders I think. The thing I like about the propegs is they are wider than the standard nerf bar. Plus they look sweet. Order them from Marcums and get them to your door for about $170. Best price you will find. If you decide to go with the standard nerf bar he has them for about $140. Also the best price you will find. If you don't want AC look into Graydon. They also are good quality nerf bars.

That is correct. It is just like the stock black one except it is made of aluminum. In my opinion it looks better and it a lot more durable. Puttting them on takes a little more work(than just installing the nerf bars by themselves). You have to drill a couple of holes. Not really that big of a deal. Get the propegs and you won't be dissipointed.

There is a link at the top of the screen for Marcums. They stick out about an inch past the rear wheels. It is probably not that wide. I have no trouble going around trees with them.

Those heel guards are sweet. does anyone make just the aluminum heel guards or could some of those be rigged to the stock pegs? you said most people dont put them on so does anyone have a pair that they arent using? I dont like nerfs for the trails i ride a guy i ride with took his off after a week cause they got in the way so id just like the heel guards.

Where did you have to drill holes at when you mounted your pro pegs. I didn't have to do any drilling.

IMHO Hondadan, those heel guards were just a place for mud to collect. When I had mine on, they used to pack with mud. When I took them off, no mud.Just my .02

I bought my AC Propeg Nerfbars for only $150 at Golden West Cycle. They didn't have the heelguards though. I prefer not having heelguards though...:macho

I wish i would have been able to buy mine without heelgaurds. The stupid things just sit on a shelf in my barn. Would have saved me some $.

400MXer I drilled three holes when I mounted each side of my propegs. 1 was top secure the alum. peg to the steel peg. The other two where to mount the alum heal guard to the alum. peg. I went pretty much by the instructions. Although the instructions say to drill from front to back of the alum. peg, I drille them from top to bottom. Much easier and I felt it would hold better. But if you didn't use the heal guards or secure the alum. peg to the steel one ( which is probably not needed, but I thought it was better to be safe than sorry) you wouldn't have to drill any.

WOW! You got instructions with your Propegs! Must be nice. I got mine today with no instructions. Do you use any of the stock bolts or just use the ones supplied?

If your not gonna use the heel guards then they should be a breeze to mount up,,but if you are gonna use the heel guards I can't help,,I threw mine away..:(

I pretty much used the nuts and bolts that came with them. Although I mounted mine a little different than the instructions say. So I may have used a different bolt or two. If you have any questions maybe I can help. I will at least tell you how I installed them. You can email me or leave post on here. CJ
