A couple of my friends have dirt bikes and drag race them at the local motorcycle club, and there are a few quads there too. I am pretty interested in drag racing a quad there. I was wondering what would be better for a 300ft drag strip. I have narrowed it down to a banshee or a quadzilla. It is a dirt drag so i was worried about traction on the banshee and i am not sure how the bottom end of the LT is. So what does every one think would be the best. It is a 300ft. dirt drag. If anyone has a suggestion on a better bike please post it. Thanks

The LT has considerably more bottom end than a banshee.
Since its such a large engine it almost feels like a 4-stroke.
They would be perfect for drag racing.
a Banshee is probably your best choice but you are right they do spin alot. But its all about your choice of tires.
The reason I say the Shee over the Zilla is because the Zilla is an older quad, And will probably break down alot more.

You can make both of them pretty fast. Its a tough call:ermm:

please just get a zilla!!!!! you get a nice one with good plastic for $2500 and that has been rebuilt and if you run it a little rich then you really don't have to worry about breaking down, i ride like a bat out of hell most of the time and haven't had any trouble, mine is scary fast, i took mine down a dirt road a couple of days ago with my dad, he was riding a dt175 and doing 60mph (has a speedometer) i blasted by him like he was standing still in low 5th

ZILLA=DRAG :devil:

You could always swap engines in a 500

The banshee has a 1000 or 1100 streetbike engine in it while I am not sure what engine is in the zilla:ermm:

My old LT500 would stomp a shee with toomey's and there is another around here that could tomp mine. They have way more bottom than a shee, and are easier to ride, but dfinately not to start.

Banshee

thats a tough choice the zilla is going to break down more then the shee

what kind of surface to they run these races on ?

zillas are denitly fast but so are the shees if ur planning on going

all out into a drag bike i would get the shee
keeping it stock shee
just a few mods zilla

come on get something that will just go up in value, a real collector's, everybody has a shee, with a zilla right from the start its like you have a modded shee, then add some mods, you'll be amazed, just adding a pipe and a reed cage is assanine amounts of power gain

BANSHEE!!! Of course, my opinion is biased, but for good reason. I'd say the banshee because they're easy to modify and you can get parts w/out any problems. Ok, well you can with the LT too,...but I'd still get the banshee!:blah:

get a banshee. then put trinitys new kit that puts it up to 125hp. After that if u can find traction and when you do find some just keep it from flipping over u should be able to beat almost anything out there.:D

You can make either one a really fast quad, depending on how much you want to spend, so I don't think you can really go wrong with either one. However, the banshee is the king of drag racing.

you dont need 125 hp for a 300 ft race i would be reasonable and get a banshee, the parts are easier to find for the shee than the 500, and they are more reliable, trust me and go with the shee or even a raptor, they both turn good times!

get the banshee, mine has very few mods on it and it FLIES. and as for traction, if you're using stock tires then yea there is no traction, but just put any aftermarket tire on...and you've got LOTS of traction. i put my holeshots on and it hooks up right away with no problem. get the banshee, get a 400PV kit for it, pipes and silencers, reeds and reed cage (V-force), extended axle, maybe a wheelie bar, and you've got one fast mo-fo banshee! plus it'll last a LOT longer than an lt500.

omg, a zilla would own a shee, they are the fastest stock production bikes ever made

as for people saying it will break down, what makes you think that? you have to rebuild the top end in a banshee often and if you take care of the zilla then it will be just as reliable, if it was real old when you bought it it might need a rebuild but after that i think it would be just as good and a lot faster.

yeah, those are sweet pics but maybe they don't have any mods, maybe the driver sucks, maybe the gearing is off, AND MOST OF ALL, MAYBE IT IS A LT250!!!!

a 500cc 2 stroke man, those things are fast, trust me

I'm in the same boat. I have been kicking around the idea of buying a she' or a zilla for drag racing at our local 1/8 mile drag strip. I was really leaning toward getting a zilla' because of it being a 500cc 2stroke and are they are longer. But than there is so much more available for the she' and you can get one that is not as old. I guess the only thing that is keeping me from buying a she' is the fact, there are twice as many parts to rebuild and replace as there is on the zilla' since the she' is a twin cylinder.

When I make up my mind and go to buy a quad for drag racing, the quad in my signature will be up for sale.

yeah, i wouldn't like to have carb problems with a banshee danney f

Btw, if you're lookin to drag only... The banshee is the only way to go.

That is Jon Lorio's Banshee it is a 14mm 540cc Cheetah alky engine built by Dan Hull and it will destroy any Zillas in existance, his 350cc alky Banshee has gone 4.05 in 300ft before.Hell the fastest Zillas on nitrous outhere cant even beat the fastest 350cc alky Banshees so dont waste your time and money if you want to be a contender buy a Shee and build it up or be different buy a Zilla and get spanked...

I would go with the Zilla becouse you can take the money you might save and get some mods

I just rode a piped 2003 banshee and was not impressed but then the tires kept spinning so i am not surre.
