anyone can help me on this but im getting confused !! ok i had an 86 R and bought an Arens 250R frame this frame is based on the 88-89 250R !! i have a laeger 88-89 swingarm and need to know a few things !! on the linkage do i just need to replace the dog bone looking thing ? this should be the only part of the likage that is different?? also i read that you have to replace the shock ? whats that all about ? do you really have to replace the shock or just the linkage piece? what all years of the linkage were the same? i know the 86 is longer but what about the 87-89 are they the same or ??/

OK...

You had an 86 frame and an 89 style Laeger swingarm. That means your swingarm is 1 piece across the front. Is that what you have? If it is, all you have to do is bolt it onto the new frame. No problem. If you have an 86/87 style swingarm that is split in the front you will need to use that little black spacer part that captures the rear motor mounts. Here is the difference between 86/87 swingarm and the 88/89 style swingarm. The 86/87 had a spacer piece that also acted as the rear motor mounts. The 88/89 style swingarm was one piece across the front, and the motor mounts are welded onto the frame where they should be. Other than that, the only difference is material and the length. 86/87 is made from steel and is a little longer.

On to the linkage... Here is the only part you need to change. Everything else like the shock and all that stuff will work fine. You will need to get the 88/89 "dogbone". That's it. Everything else will work regardless of swingarm, linkage, or shock. The 86/87 linkage is about 3/4 inch different in length and trying to use it on the 88/89 frame will make the ride heigth too low.

Talk to you later!

Did you get that OK? All you need is the 88/89 dogbone... After I read it again I wanted to make sure it was clear for you.

Great! You are all set.

Sometimes I can really get going on the details, and I hope I never confuse anyone.

What do you mean by little black spacer jnine??? What would I need to run a 86 swingarm on your arens frame? Would it be the 86-87 rear motor mount with the top ear and bottom ear cut off or does someone make the spacer? Thank you!

All you need to run the 86/87 swingarm on our 88/89 frame is the 86/87 rear motor mount with the lower ears cut off, and the 88/89 dogbone.
