ok the machine is ready to go, I need front shocks, I run stock lenth control arms, do trail riding, no racing, should I get elka with no rezzies, works with no rezzies, or works with rezzies, also are rezzies really needed for normal trail riding

i bet elkas without rezzys are still 10x better than works with rezzys.

Why?

a bunch of diffrant reasons........ my biggest one is the way the shock is built ( havent heard of elka springs just "coming" off ) and the 5/8's shaft

all rezzys do it prevent shock fade. And that takes a lot of beating on the shock for it to start to fade. I would always 10/10 times take elka w/o over works w/

You'd be surprised how quickly a shock can begin to fade....

I have works without rezzies on my 300ex.I jump pretty high with it.When I had stock shocks I had all kinds of problems. The centercase cracked where the motor mount bolts to it.I cracked 2 stock swingarms,Just a # of things.

Then I got my works dual rates without rezzies. They are still a little soft. They work ten times better than stock though.

As far as shocks fading. If you ride the stock shocks hard on a mx track you can tell difference pretty quickly. You get used to it.Until you go with to a shock with res's and you can tell the difference. If you ride hard I would suggest getting the rezzie's.If you don't Then I wouldn't.

I don't ride my 300ex hard enough anymore to need them.So I didn't get them.I am happy.

I have piggy backs on my 250r and I love them. They are WP shocks built by white bro's.

I would love elkas with rezzies but not in the budget, I just bought my 6 year old his first dirtbike, got $500 leftover for me, if I get the elkas without rezzies could I add them on later?:macho

Cool...takin care of the kids first:macho :D

I'm in kinda the same dilema $$ wise. No kids involved though:p

Works might be good enough but everyone seems to praise Elka sooo much..... I wish there was a way we could try each set up to see how it feels instead of going by what others say.

I'm trying to justify getting the Elkas myself...

Decisions, decisions:confused2

Joe

p.s. I belive you can add rezzies later but it cost even more than getting the at the same time... Anyone know how much?

Your 100% correct. I went from works with rezzies to elka's and the elkas are better hands down...

Comparing the 2 is like comparing a Vette to a cavalier.. :blah:

shocks will fade faster if you live in hell i mean Arizona right and if all there is to ride out here is trails and that is working the shocks perdy hard wont the rez help it not to fade...

06-23-2003, 01:57 PM
go with the elkas no rezzies...you can add them later if you choose. the elkas are a better shock hands down compared to the works. also shold you decide to do something diffrent down the road the elkas will have a higher resale value.
