Im confused here...:( I read that on some carbs, depending on the location of the air screw, turning it in or out can do opposite things.

Does turning it in/out make it richer or leaner?

you are correct. on some carbs it is an air skrew and on other carbs it is a fuel skrew. the carbs with an air skrew, you turn it in for richer and out for leaner. the carbs with a fuel skrew, you turn it out for richer and in for leaner. by the way, ours is a fuel skrew. by the way, the 400ex's have the fuel skrew. by turning this out, it will do the same thing as going up on the pilot jet. however, a bigger pilot will make more of a difference than this skrew. this skrew is only for fine tuning. most people run a 42 pilot and it seems to work ok for me. the stock pilot is a 38.
