I need to replace my head gasket and I will also need to replace those long head bolts.

I think the dealer wants $60 for the stock bolts. Is there a place to get stronger ones? And how much are they?

I might be interested in bigger dia. bolts, if the drill and tap ain't that much of a pain.

GT Thunder. I got mine from him and I srilled and tapped mine by myself, you just have to be careful that you dont tap it too deep or the stud heights wont be right. its not all that hard but if you dont trust yourself bring it to an engine builder

I'm talking about those 13 head bolts that stretch. (i think theres 13 of em)

Theres no aftermarket place like C&D that sells them? Or just maybe some engine builders?

Are yo talking about the little 8mm vavle cover bolts. if so i don't know of anyone that carries them for that purpose. I am sure you could get some SS ones some where. there are usually people selling ss bolts on Ebay for an ex

I just talked to FDO and they said you don't need to replace them bolts when you open up the motor? I was like well the strecth dont they? he said you could re use em sounded crazy to me, .

Then he said he had the bolt I need for $1?

A dollar? erm, but the dealer wants $60.

Im just gonna get the stock ones, and replace them all.

the only way they streatch is if you over tighten em when youput it back togeather.Thats what i did.Do NOT tourqe those bolts.Tighten them like you would the oil filter cover.ONLY tourqe the larger bolt in the center.17ft lbs i think.but check. I ordered mine from service honda and they were around $40 i think may have been more.I remember it was way too much!

After doing a 416kit on my friends quad, I can tell you that those bolts DO NOT take alot of torque to twist the head off! Make sure you torque them per the manual...I believe it is 17 ft/lbs. Either way, they dont require much at all.
