I was out riding yesterday and I noticed that at higher rpm's my 400 is blowing some blue smoke and smelling like burnt oil. Should I worry about this, or is there nothing to worry about? Any help is appreciated.

i have been told 400ex's are known to do that especially if you run the honda oil. mine even did it when it was a couple weeks old. i switched to mobil 15w-50 and no more oil is not being burnt. changing oil may not be a fix if it is really burning it though.

very true^
and valve seals are normally noticed at start up. id switch oils and see if it gets better..if not maybe do a leak down test

If it helps any, it also only seems to burn oil when it gets warmed up. I am running the Honda GN4 right now so I guess I am going to get some mobil 1 and see if it helps any. Also how much does mobil 1 run a quart and do I just buy it at an auto parts store?

the mobil 1 oil is not cheap. it usually runs a little less than $5 a quart. however, i usually buy a five quart jug of it for about $20. the best price i found was at walmart. by the way, its the tri-synthetic mobil 1 15w-50.

i was told the reason it stoped smoking was because synthetic oil doesnt smoke when burned thats what i was told dont know how true it is
