Lars,
Yeah the trails here are pretty awesome, especially in the U.P.!! The snow does get pretty deep there too. I love my ZX, it does handle pretty good but it's nothing comared to the MXZ REV!! Those things rock! I just wish I could afford one.

I agree with you guys about the power of a snowmobile, I wish my quad had the same power as my sled!! The first time I got on my quad this year after had rode my sled all winter, it was like "where did all the power go?"

hey 2000 400ex have u rode a rev yet im thinkin i am gonna buy one this fall just so i got a good reason to go to the up of michigan i got a 2001 mxz 800 this by far is the best handling sled i have rode or owned

OK guys, promise not to laugh now............... We've got 3 John Deere sleds. 1980 Sportfire 440 f/c, 1981 Trailfire 440 f/c and a 1980 Liquifire 440 l/c. We don't get enough snow around here to warrant spending big bucks on new sleds but I wish we did!

then we got a yamaha SXR 700 tripple :eek2: stock but it still is really fast

the skidoo is a lot quicker but the 700 is faster in the long run and i like the suspention better

Yeah i ride sleds, last year i learned how to do no-footed cans, and a bunch of other stuff this year i am gonna bust superman seat grabs because i got a freestyle seat, and i ride a 2003 Pro-X 600, and the year before i had a 2001 Pro-X 400, the locals around here tease me a bit because they say i can barley see over my bars but o well! at least i can do tricks and do gaps and stuff, here is a pic of me the first day doing no-footed cans, i know i know it is a tiny jump but thats we built a ramp this summer:

lars,
no I haven't rode a REV yet, but I heard that once you do you won't want to ride a conventional sled again! I'd definately buy one if I lived in northern MI, but I can't justify spending the big bucks either with the little amount of snow we get here in southeastern MI. My buddies and I usualy travel to the U.P. to ride and we only ride about 1500 to 2000 miles a year.

quadfamily,
I won't laugh at you, I've owned 2 john deere sleds!! A john deere sled was the first sled I ever rode! I had a '76 Cyclone f/c and a '77 Liquifire l/c. Once I got the liquifire running right, man would she go! Although I sold both of them and bought the sled I have now. Some good memories on the old deere's though. Here's a pic of my '77 Liquifire....:blah:

I still have my old xlt special, its built up a bit. The winters in michigan these past few years have been pretty crappy. Haven't used it much, so buying anotherone wasn't worth it. If we get some healthy winters, I'd probrably look into an rx1 or a pro x 800.

Taking vacation days to go to ontario, and the up isn't worth the time involved just to get some decent sleading in anymore.

lol, even if I had a sled I think i'd ride the 400ex with stock tires. We usually don't get to much snow and even when we do its a blast when we have other people with us on quads. Like we'll just go up to main street(i live in a small town) and just do 4th 180's or 360's and then we'll try doing all this stuff that looks like its from a movie when we try to park out quads next to us. Or in the spring when we might have a worm day it will melt a lot of snow and then freeze the next day so its super hard and it feels so awsome riding on hard snow and finding all the natural gaps and jumps.:D lol, I have so much fun on my quad in the winter and it seems like the snow mobiles get hung up more and are breaking down more and they can only ride it a few times a year.

Ya, I ride sleds a lot! I have an MXZ 700, says in my sig, no mods, it still rips though! 180km/h, I dont know what that is in miles, sorry. I have always ridden sleds, I will probaly get a Rev sometime, probaly the 800. We get a lot of snow here in Canada during the winter! I love Ski-doo, I wouldn't get anything else... Well maybe if Honda came out with something I might get it.

Running water on the sled is fun too, this year the first day I rode my sled to school the whole middle of every lake was wide open! It was scary at first because I wasn't expecting it, but I still rode home the same way! I love the feel my my sled so much! I will miss it next year, since I won't have a lot of time to ride, I will be in college.

Thats about it for me... :D

i like to snowmobile. last year i rode around a moto ski 377 twin. i couldnt believe how fast it accelerated on the dry ground and how much the snow robbed it of power lol. then his uncle brought over an 03 mxz 600, and i didnt think they had THAT much power, but it wheelied from like 0-30, its like a zippy motocross bike in the snow.

Wow old thread............

I picked up an 01 srx700 it has extended gripped running boards, revalved sx shocks in the proaction rear skid, ohlins clickers with piggy back resie's, usi skis, maximum performance roller clutch, widening kit, bender trail porting, cold air kit, v force delta 3's, 192 studds, handle bar riser, and alot of other custum stuff.

I did more snowmobiling this winter then any other I can remember. Love whooping on the big bore's on my sleeper 700 tripple.

Yep, it has the fastest 1/4 mile time of any stock snowmobile ever made. They just don't have alot of suspension travel in stock form.

They last along time, get good gas miledge, handle great, and are in a high state of tune stock. That's why I went looking for one. I haven't been whooped by anyone yet, but there are faster srx's around then mine (800's and 835's) along with a turbo charged rx1.

Never got to race a thunder cat yet. I challenged one in st. ignace, but he turned me down. Machz's and firecat f7's and rev's are no problem.

i don't want to start anything, but ya'll need to come out to the mountains to experience true snowmobiling. 3-8ft of fresh powder, impossible climbs, cornice drops, huge gaps, 11,000ft elevation. Bring a shovel! :D

The mountains are my true calling. I am out there a few times a year and intend to move there later on in life. Wow, old thread, but I now ride an '01 Pol 800. I have put some work into it; pretty nice sled. 2" paddle for the steep and deep and 1" shorty for back home.

Where you at skunk? I usually go to Dubois and ride around Togwotee. Pretty much all around Union Pass. In March, it was real set up snow, but it was nice because I got to see a lot of country that I wouldn't have been able to get to last year.

I'm an hour from the big horns, hour from the black hills, 3 hours from the snowies, and 4 1/2 hours from dubois. I mainly ride cooke city, west yellowstone and the big horns. I've got a 1150 cutler king cat (230hp on pump gas) 162" attack 20 track all the goodies. (not the pic i posted above. thats a 1000cc cat that says 800 on the hood. lol. the pic is from a 60ft gap jump. comin in for the landing) If you or anyone else from exriders is out in the horns in the winter let me know as I'll take ya on a guided tour. (pure powder, huge cornices, rollin hills, whatever you want) Less than 5 miles of trails.

I've had our Mach Z at 110 - 115. It's a fast machine for being about stock.

I've heard those srx's are fast, but will a stock one keep up with the mach's or not. Also, is anyone getting a new Mach Z 1000 this year. Should be a bad sled, and I bet not much will run with it.

86350x
05-19-2004, 11:53 PM
Yes, if you think I am full of poop, amsnow's porta tree shootout results are on the net.

In stock form it whooped it, big moose evidently doesn't know how to set up an srx because they made it slower.

Machs are fast stock, but after you do some tuning they are really fast. They have almost 10 more hp then a stock srx, but still aren't as point a to point b fast. I have a canadian srx, I can burry the speedo at 200(It's in kilometers before the spazz attacks start) even though I geared it down 1 tooth. Not sure what a stock mach's top speed is. I like mach's too, but f7's and srx's are my favorite stock and modified machines.
