I have been seeing a lot of rear shocks going up for sale setup for a cr500 linkage swingarm. Forgive me for being not up to speed on this cr500 linkage setup, but will this setup shock boltup to a stock 400ex rear linkage and provide correct travel????

Nope, you need an aftermarket frame. The whole setup will run close to $4000 with the frame, shock, linkage, and swingarm.

Thats what I figured but thought I would ask.

Thanks

i see you have a 400ex. You will not benefit from the CR500 linkage as much as the guys running the 250r. The stock 400ex linkage is very close to the cr500 linkage and unless you are a very serious rider/racer you may not even be able to tell the difference. It is a much bigger improvement on the 250rs and probably not worth the money for a 400ex.

But the question was will a shock setup for a cr500 linkage system work on a stocker 400ex linkage. I am wanting to purchase a aftermarket shock for my 400 and have been seeing these shocks on Ebay and such and was curious if they would fit and have the correct travels for my needs. Not wanting to switch to new linkage setup just interseted in the shock.

Thanks

That might possibly work.

Here is what you need to know for EACH shock.

You will need the eye to eye length, both fully extended and compressed.

You will need the diameter with the spring to check for spring clearance on the frame, and however the resevour mounts.

You will need to know the dimensions of each end to make sure it fits into the frame mount, and the linkage mount. Don't forget to check bolt hole size as well.

If somebody would take a digital photo of one for you with a scale or ruler next to the shock, and from several angles you could probably get a very good idea from that.

Talk to you later.

My rear Axis CR500 link shock is close in length to my 19" front Axis..I'll try and get a measurement tomorrow.

Oh yeah it won't bolt onto the linkage at the bottom, it is a much narrow gap where the shock overlaps the linkage.
