Difference in 300EX years

I'm buying my GF a 300Ex and I was wondering if there were any major differences between years, which is better ect. Any help would be great, thanks.

There are no differences in the 300s. In fact, all the 300EXs are just beefed up 250Xs with electric start. There may be small differences in cosmetics, but that's all.

actually the 93-95 models have a 28mm carb and the 96 and up have a 32mm carb

it's actually the 93-98 but who's counting and stock was 29mm

So I got a 29 carb and the like newer ones have a 32????:confused: That aint fair:grr: Maybe thats why the newer 300's have that white tube dooflicky off of the carb boot and the older ones don't
If u look u will also notice the 87' x's will have a smooth front fender and it says 14 or older printed in the plastic. However the newer x's and ex's have a hump in the left fender and has the warning lable:devil: Just figured I'd mention that:D That hump stinks in my opinion for those who want to cut the plastic's.

Other than that there bout the same:devil: I also noticed that the 300 reverse lever u have to pull straight up on and u have to use ur hands, with the x's u have a lever instead that u can flick back with ur foot which is alot easier:cool:

So can I put a Keihn 34mm flat slide carb on my 96' 300 w/o any engine mods besides my FMF p/s & K&N air filter?????????? Just curious cuz I bought an extra one for our blaster but hey if I can use it on my 300 then I will?!!!!!

yeah i think the carb is the only difference. the graphics are different on the years. the older ex's i think are really ugly. but graphics dont matter, u can just peel them off

they also added a crankcase vent in 98

Ok so nothing big. Now who all does dune riding witht there 300? Shes pretty much only ganna be riding at the dunes, so I dont want her to grow out of this to fast, but yet I dont want to overwhelm her.

300ex's in the dunes are gonna be down on power alot..this could be a good or thing...just depeneding on her riding ability
