Well after running my 4-wheeler a couple of times at the strip i decided that i had to get my camaro out there.

My Camaro is a bone stock 85 Z-28 and has 97,000+ miles on it. I ran it just like i would when i was driving, so it had everything in it that it normally would.

My best run of the night was 15.283 at 89.49mph, my worst run was 15.430 at 88.24mph (that was my first run).

So heres the times and everything for my best run

RT - .670
60ft - 2.139
330ft - 6.338
1/8th - 9.753
MPH - 73.02
1000ft - 12.757
1/4 - 15.283
MPH - 89.46

I don't think that is all that bad for a 85 Camaro with a stock 305 in it.

Heres the video its me vs a 4th gen Video (http://www.thebestgen.com/images/MeVs4thGen.WMV)

I love those Cameros. I had a beautiful white '86 Z28 with a carbureted 305, but I sold it. What an idiot I am.:(

I'm happy with the car I didn't buy it for drag racing. I will be happier though once I get it into the 14's. I don't think 14's would be bad for something that I paid 3 grand for. I think its amazing that I pulled 15.2 with the ol 305. My car has 3.23 gears. That was in 80 degree temperature, high humidity, and with a slight head on wind.

For the people that know cars what do you guys think i should do for just regular performance gains? I was thinking just full exhaust (headers on back), a more aggressive cam (the LT1 cam i was thinking), and just a general tune up wouldn't hurt. lol

I do plan on building a fun car to drag race eventually and it will be another 3rd gen but i don't want to mess with the fuel injection, that is how come i won't do it with this one.

I have a video of me getting smoked by a 12 second 5.0 Mustang. I also have a video of a 98+ Camaro SS running a 11 second pass with street tires on.

My advice for the 3rd gen. if you want to see some real gains. Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, cat-back of your preference and a set of gears with a good posi unit (I ran a Lock-Right locker on my stock 10-bolt). Those 3 items and then with practice, practice, practice and some air pressure experiments you could be in the 14.6's with ease. I'll have to dig some pics out of my 3rd gens.

Wow not a bad time at all.

Do have the LG4 or the l69.The l69 is the HO305.

That isn't very many miles for that year of a car at all. Those third camaro's are kind of heavy.Around 3500 pounds.

You should have 416 casting # heads on it right now. Those are some great heads. With bigger valves and a good port job they can really flow.Even as well as vortecs.(it's a secret)Also those stock manifolds really really suck. You can get a set of headers with all the EGR stuff. So it will still pass emissions.Add a catback exhaust and some headers a high flow cat.

I bet with headers, catback,That stock intake is acctaully not that bad.I run and edelbrock performer RPM on my truck and i really like it.Also if you set that qaudrajet up right you can get great performance.I hate tuning the things.I run an edelbrock 1406 600cfm electric choke carb on my truck.I really like it.(even though it is to small for my current setup.

Third gens have a really good rear suspension setup. If you could hook a little better.(get that 60 foot under 2.0)You might be in the 14's.Maybe add some slicks. And a stall convertor. You are almost there!

A 400? Is it just a bored/stroked 350?

They made a 400 small block. It was offered in midsized cars and trucks.

It made alot of torque because of the larger displacment. The problem is small block heads don't flow well enough to support those larger cubes.A set of aftermarket heads really wakes them.

A 450 or even 500 horse 400 small block is not that hard to build.I have one that hopefully will be around 450 horse with 500 foot pounds of torque. It is going into a shortbed s10.Should be fun.

Here is a pic of my 400 the day I brought it home.I got a long way to go on it.

.

I suggest a good exhaust system, a nice intake manifold, and a driver.
