hey,
I was thinking about buying a pair of stock cannondale shocks. These are ohlins. I heard ohlins are great shocks. Is this worth it to buy these ohlins that where on a cannondale for much cheaper? Would these shocks be a lot better that the stock 400ex shocks? If they are no good, who would you reccommend me going to to get my shocks revalved? Does it cost a lot of money to get your shocks revalved and transformed by works or pep?
Thanks,
Damian

I wouldn't buy them. They are better than stock, but every aftermarket shock is. You can't get your front 400ex shocks revalved. Also it is better to get aftermarket shocks that are for your machine, bodyweight, and riding style/area.

but i don't wanna spend a lot of money. I can't afford all that stuff. Would it be smart if i got my rear shock revalved, and bought cheap fronts like maybe the ohlins? Why can't I have the fronts revalved? I wanna do all this work for like under 400 or 500 bucks front and back

Yes, send your rear shock to LRD or Mark @ Baldwin motorsports and get them to re-valve it to your weight and riding style! It will make your rear shock ALOT better!!!! I have a rear ohlins shock ($800) and its a good shock, but i wouldnt buy another one, as for you and the front stock c-dale ones, there probably a good bit better but not as good as a set of works TR's. You are talking about the ones that came on the fx400's, early cannibal's, and the new speed's right? But if you cant get some for less than $150 i'd save and look on ebay or for a set of used works or pep shocks

yes, I am talking about those shocks. I found them on ebay too. they are at like 57 bucks now, but will go up a bunch soon. So, you think i should go as high as 150 for the bidding and if they go higher, i should jump a couple hundred and buy used wroks off of ebay? How much will it cost for those places you mentioned to revalve my rear shock?

All i'm going to say is you get what you pay for in shocks.

EXACTLY! to do a custom re-valve w/ new oil seal kit will be about $170, its an awesome set-up and it's very cheap! http://www.lrdperformance.com/shop.htm

Im not sure about baldwin, but i know they are great! call them (dont e-mail them) http://www.baldwinmotorsports.com/bms_services.htm

Heres an even better idea for ya,,,Call Terry at marcums and ask him about this,,,he's a c-dale dealer and knows the full ins and outs of the 400ex,,he will definitly tell you your options..and give you an honest opinion..

I would definately find out first if the C-dale shocks will even work on your 400ex. I was under the impression these were pretty well custom made shocks for the FX400's etc and that they probably wont work well on a 400ex.

You can get a set of Works Dual Rates w/out ressiez's for something like $250 I belive, do that and get your rear re-done and you should be good to go!
