Removing Key switch to mount in new plastic?

I was wondering how you take out the key switch on the stock 400ex plastic. Does it just pop out or what? Then once you get it out how do you mount it to the new maier race plastic? I see they give you a bracket but I'm not exactly sure how you mount it up. thanks for your help

it just pops out, i have fullbore, but the bracket mounted on the handlebars.

Hey thanks guys. I got everything out. Yeah the Maier bracket says to mount it to the handlebar clamps too, but I'm not going to do that. Where has everyone remounted their keys? Any pics? Also do you have to connect anything to the wires of the nuetral light or can you just unplug it and will be fine? thanks

I mounted the key on the frame a little above and behind the eft front shock mount. I got some rubber hose from the autoparts store to go around the key switch to help keep crud off of it. I got another piece to go on the frame and just used two hose clamps. As far as the neutral light, I just unhooked it.

i mean, if your just ganna throw it away....hook me up...
I don't want to drill in my plastic..and i don't want a 250X holder, b/c i don't have a headlight...plus i like the loks of the bare bar clamps....

i'll pay shipping for it, but that about it..
...i'll send you some sticker's for it...


....this goes for any of you 400 rider's that don't want to use the maier switch holder....let me know.

yeah, id go with mounting it under the front plastic on the frame!! right side of the quad!!

Hey thanks a lot for the help guys! Thanks for the pic john308. What was it you got at the auto parts store to hold it on the frame? Not the rubber hose you put around it or the clamps that you clamped it to the frame. "BLAHH"300!! What do you mean you would trade me stickers for the key switch holder?
