How hard is it to mount 400ex plastic and lights on a 300ex?? I've seen pictures of 300's that have had it done. Would i have to fabricate new brackets or anything like that? I want to do this because Im a small person and like the feel of the 300 better than the 400 but I like the looks of the stock 400 plastic and lights assembly more than the 300's. Oh and would stock 88 or 89 250r plastic fight too cuz i like the looks of them too. Im just trying to get it looking good but be different i guess i dunno. But please help me out here and let me know. thanx

Not really most of my riding buddy's ride utilty quads so ill still smoke them. Plus the ppl i do ride with that have racing bikes will know its a 300 with 400 plastic. But im planning on doing some motor work and other stuff to it eventually. But as i said earlier im doing it cuz i like the look of the 400 more than i do the 300.

I would get a 400 but its kinda out of my budget man. And yeah i know they are tight ive rode my friends. But right now i want the performance of the 300. Make improvements when i need more power. Get muh drift. If i find a good deal on a used 400 then i might get one but the 300 is cheaper and im fixin to go start school at MMI in orlando so i need extra cash for when i go down there. P.S. if anybody is starting school at MMI soon and needs a room mate to help pay apartment bills let me know.

i am currently doing it the front fender brace assy just simply turn the ends up where they are straight out and the front will bolt up you will have to fabricate lower fender braces the factory 400 ones will work by turning them sideways and bolting onto the 300 upper brace but it makes the lower part of the fenders pull in twords the motor the factory hole on the exhaust side where the rear fenders meet the front will line up for the black side panel but the left side there is no hole i am currently thinking the best way to do this is to weld a bracket on for that problem the factory 300 gas tank has to be cut and lowered roughly 1-2 inches and the gas cap area has to be moved back about the same 1-2 inches that takes care of the front the rear fenders go into the rear latch and pin area great and the front appears to line up perfect this way the front mounts where the rubber caps go need to be moved out roughly 1-1 1/4 inches to accomadate the wider rear seat grooves i am trying this and will have pics by the end of the weekend of the progress so far any other advice would be appreciated except "just buy a 400" comments thats not the issue its all about the money you save to have a better looking machine

hey man thanx for the help. Do you think that maybe the gas tank issue could be solved easier by buying a new or used 400 tank and putting it on. But then again it prolly wont bolt straight up either it might just make it more difficult. Well let me know how it comes out and show some pics if you get any. I think it will look great. The buy a 400 comment would be a good idea if i had the money but unfortunately after all my school expenses i dont have the money for a 400 and i need a new bike so im gonna get a 300. I found a 2001 that hasnt been rode hardly any for 3200 and its only about 20 minutes up the road so im gonna get it when i get rid of my recon.

Well what all do you have to do to the 300 tank to make it work??? Is it very difficult to do it like making the brackets and stuff? Oh and how exactly would you do whatever it is to the tank to make it work and is any of it very hard to do??

Hey for 3200 u could pick up a nice used 400ex. I got my 99 in perfect shape for 2800. heres a pic. I added the nerfs and the powder coating but for the same price u could have a 400!

I'ts a good deal but i dont want to pay for shipping or driving far. And the 300 is bone stock and practically brand new. Been rode only a couple times the stock tires even look brand new.

with puttin the 400ex plastics on, i think ur problem with the gas tank isnt that bad.... just dont put the small tank cover on. i dont know what it would look like on a 300 without that piece but i ran my 400ex without it. just a suggestion... and the plastic is still on there tight without it
