Rear Shock Question

Why do some people attatch their rear shock direcly to there swing arm instead of to the shock lincage? Is there any advantage when doing this Im curios!!!!!!:huh

its a no link set up. You have to have your shock valved for it and a singarm made for no link. I think it is supposed to get more traction.
